ABSTRACT: The ionic title compound, C(12)H(28)P(+)·C(18)HBF(15)O(-), was obtained by the stoichiometric reaction of (t)Bu(3)P, B(C(6)F(5))(3) and water in toluene. A weak P-H?O hydrogen bond is observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, C(44)H(38)P(2) (2+)2BF(4) (-), consists of discrete dications inter-laced with the BF(4) (-) counter-ions. In each cation, both phospho-nium groups lie on the same side of the plane of the central benzene ring. The tetra-fluoro-borate anions are involved in intensive thermal motion, thus some B-F bond lengths [range 1.329?(6) to 1.391?(6)?Å] deviate significantly from their standard values.

Project description:Alkyl zirconocene cations have been of considerable inter-est as reactive species in many polymerization processes. In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Zr(C12H19)(C5H5)2](C36HB2F30O), the [Zr(C5H5)2((t-Bu)C=C(H)-C2(t-Bu))](+) cation displays a buta-1-en-3-yne ligand side-on coordinated to a typical bent zirconocene [centroid(cp)-Zr-centroid(cp) = 131.4?(3)°, Zr-C(buta-1-en-3-yne) = 2.255?(3), 2.597?(3) and 2.452?(2)?Å]. In the [HO(B(C6F5)3)2](-) anion, intra-molecular O-H?F hydrogen bonds are observed. One tert-butyl group in the complex cation is disordered over two sets of sites with occupancies 0.701(4):0.299(4).

Crystal structure of tri-phenyl(vinyl)-phospho-nium tetra-phenyl-borate.

Project description:The title ionic salt, C21H20P(+)·C24H20B(-), crystallized with two independent vinyl-tri-phenyl-phospho-nium cations and two independent tetra-phenyl-borate anions per asymmetric unit. These four independent moieties contain nearly perfect tetra-hedral symmetry about their respective central C atoms. In the crystal, there are no ?-stacking or other inter-molecular inter-actions present.

Project description:The crystallization of a 1:1 molar solution of 1,3,5-tri-fluoro-2,4,6-di-iodo-benzene (TFTIB) and tetra-phenyl-phosponium iodide (TPPI) from methanol produced tetra-gonal needles of pure TPPI and tabular pseudo-hexa-gonal truncated bipyramids of the title compound, 3C24H20P(+)·3I(-)·4C6F3I3·CH4O or (TPPI)3(TFTIB)4·MeOH. The asymmetric unit is composed of six TPPI mol-ecules, eight TFTIB mol-ecules and two methanol mol-ecules, overall 16 constituents. The formation of the architecture is essentially guided by a number of C-I?I(-) halogen bonds (XB), whose lengths are in the range 3.276?(1)-3.625?(1)?Å. Layers of supra-molecular polyanions are formed parallel to (10-1) wherein iodide anions function as penta-, tetra- or bidentate XB acceptors. The structure is not far from being P21/n, but the centrosymmetry is lost due to a different conformation of a single couple of cations and the small asymmetry in the formed supra-molecular anion. One methanol mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to an iodide anion, while the second is linked to the first one via an O-H?O contact. This second methanol mol-ecule is more loosely pinned in its position than the first and presents very high anisotropic displacement parameters and a seeming shortening of the C-O bond length. The crystal studied was refined as a perfect inversion twin.

The sodium cations are surrounded by four anions with three short Na?B [2.848?(8), 2.842?(7) and 2.868?(8)?Å] and two short Na?F contacts [2.348?(5) and 2.392?(5)?Å], forming a three-dimensional network. The anion is the first structural example of a pentafluorophenyl ring carrying a BH(3) group.

The inter-planar angles between pairs of the three benzene rings of the 4-methyl-phenyl-sulfonyl units are 41.15?(10), 18.11?(10) and 44.09?(10)°. C-H?? inter-actions are observed in the crystal structure. Mol-ecules are linked into screw chains along the b axis by weak C-H?O inter-actions. Weak intramolecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds are also present.

Project description:In the title compound, [PtCl(C(27)H(35)N(3))]BF(4), the Pt(II) atom is in a pseudo-square-planar coordination, which is typical of Pt-terpyridine complexes. The Pt-Cl bond distance is 2.2998?(7)?Å. The Pt-N distance of the N atom on the central pyridine is 1.931?(2)?Å, while the peripheral N atoms have Pt-N distances of 2.018?(2) and 2.022?(2)?Å. The cations pack as dimers in a head-to-tail orientation with an inter-molecular Pt?Pt distance of 3.5214?(2)?Å and Pt?N distances of 3.527?(2), 3.873?(2) and 4.532?(2)?Å. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked by weak C-H?F hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The title structure, 3C(2)H(7)N(4)O(+)·HFPO(3) (-)·FPO(3) (2-)·H(2)O, contains three independent 2-carbamoylguanidinium cations, one fluoro-phospho-nate, one hydrogen fluoro-phospho-nate and one water mol-ecule. There are three different layers in the structure that are nearly perpendicular to the c axis. Each layer contains a cation and the layers differ by the respective presence of the water mol-ecule, the hydrogen fluoro-phospho-nate and fluoro-phospho-nate anions. N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the guanylurea mol-ecules that inter-connect the mol-ecules within each layer are strong. The layers are inter-connected by strong and weak O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the anions and water mol-ecules, respectively. Inter-estingly, the configuration of the layers is quite similar to that observed in 2-carbamoylguanidinium hydrogen fluoro-phospho-nate [Fábry et al. (2012). Acta Cryst. C68, o76-o83]. There is also present a N-H?F hydrogen bond in the structure which occurs quite rarely.
