ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(CH(3)CO(2))(2)(C(8)H(7)N(3))](n), the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by one N atom from a 4-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine ligand and three O atoms from two bridging and one terminal acetate ligands, forming a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The bridging acetate ligands link the Zn atoms into a chain along [001]. N-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine and pyrazole rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.927?(3)?Å] connect the chains into a layer parallel to (011).

Distortions from the ideal square-pyramidal coordination geometry relate to the restricted bite angle of the chelating ligands, i.e. O-Zn-O = 59.65?(5) and N-Zn-N = 76.50?(6)°, and the close approach of the non-coordinating carbonyl atom [Zn?O = 2.858?(2)?Å]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are consolidated into a three-dimensional architecture by C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(8)H(7)N(3))(2)(H(2)O)]·0.5H(2)O, the Zn(II) atom shows a distorted octa-hedral ZnN(4)O(2) coordination environment and is bonded to two 3-(2-pyrid-yl)-1H-pyrazole ligands via the N atoms, one monodentate 4-nitro-phthalate ligand and one associated water mol-ecule. Additionally, one water of crystallization, with a site-occupation factor of 0.5, is present. The two 3-(2-pyrid-yl)-1H-pyrazole ligands are planar [r.m.s. deviations = 0.03?(1) and 0.35?(1)?Å] and the dihedral angle between the two planar 3-(2-pyrid-yl)-1H-pyrazole ligands is 67.31?(4)°. Inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions between 3-(2-pyrid-yl)-1H-pyrazole ligands with a face-to-face separation of 3.64?(1)?Å are observed. Project description:The title polymeric compound, [Cu(2)I(2)(C(8)H(7)N(3))(2)](n) [C(8)H(7)N(3) = 3-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (HIPy), where HIPy comes from the in situ deca-rboxylation of 2-(pyridin-3-yl)-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (H(3)PyIDC)], was obtained under solvo-thermal conditions. Each Cu(I) cation is in a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment defined by two iodide anions and two nitro-gen atoms from two individual HIPy ligands. Two Cu(I) atoms are connected by two HIPy ligands to form a dimer and these dimers are further bridged through the iodide atoms, leading to a chain structure extending parallel to [100]. Moreover, inter-molecular N-H?I hydrogen bonds and weak ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid?centroid distances of 3.809?(4)?Å, an inter-planar separation of 3.345?(3)?Å and a ring slippage of 1.822?Å] between pyridyl rings link the chains into a two-dimensional supra-molecular network in the ac plane.
