ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title compound, (C(5)H(14)N(2))[ZnCl(4)]·0.5H(2)O, is built up from discrete 1-methyl-piperazine-diium cations with chair conformation, tetrahedral tetrachloridozincate anions and uncoordinated solvent water mol-ecules linked together by three types of inter-molecular hydrogen bonds, viz. N-H?Cl, N-H?O and O-H?Cl.

Project description:In the title compound, (C(12)H(20)N(2))[ZnCl(4)]·H(2)O, the two piperazine N atoms are protonated and the [ZnCl(4)](2-) anions adopt a slightly distorted tetra-hedral configuration. In the crystal, O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the tetra-chloridozincate anions and the water mol-ecules into corrugated inorganic chains parallel to [010]. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, with the N-H hydrogen bond originating from one of the two N atoms being trifurcated.

Project description:The structure of the title polymer, }[Mg(C6H14N2O6P2)(H2O)4]·0.5H2O} n , is based on centrosymmetric MgO6 octahedra, which are linked by [(piperazine-1,4-diium-1,4-di-yl)bis-(methyl-ene)]di-phospho-nate ligands, forming chains parallel to [1-1-1]. These chains are connected via hydrogen bonds primarily formed between the phospho-nate groups and water mol-ecules. The latter constitute four of the corners of the MgO6 polyhedra and bind to the O atoms of the phospho-nate groups of neighbouring chains. The lattice water molecule is disordered around an inversion centre, exhibiting an occupancy of 0.25.

Both amine N atoms are protonated. The piperazine ring adopts a chair conformation. The Cu-Cl distances in the tetrahedral anion are in the range 2.2360?(7)-2.2732?(7)?Å. In the crystal, moderately strong and weak inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the anion and cation units into an infinite two-dimensional network parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:IN THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 1-methyl-piperazine-1,4-diium bis-(2,4,6-trinitro-phen-ol-ate)], C(5)H(14)N(2) (2+)·2C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7) (-), the ionic components are connected by relatively strong N-H?O hydrogen bonds into centrosymmetric six-membered conglomerates, which comprise two dications and four anions. Besides Coulombic inter-actions, only weak C-H?O inter-actions and some stacking between picrates (separation between the planes of ca. 3.4?Å but only a small overlapping) can be identified between these 'building blocks' of the crystal structure. The piperazine ring adopts a chair conformation with the methyl substituent in the equatorial position. In the picrate anions, the twist angles of the nitro groups depend on their positions relative to the phenolate O atom: it is much smaller for the NO(2) groups para to the C-O(-) group [15.23?(9)and 3.92?(14)°] than for the groups in the ortho positions [28.76?(13)-39.84?(11)°].
