Project description:The title salt, C(12)H(14)N(2) (2+)·2IO(3) (-), exhibits two crystallographically independent iodate anions, the I atoms of which are each in a trigonal-pyramidal environment. In the dication, the two pyridine rings adopt an anti conformation with respect to each other; the angle between these two rings is 3.84 (19)°. In the crystal structure, C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the cations and anions lead to the formation of layers arranged parallel to the ab plane. I⋯O halogen bonds [R(2) (2)(4) graph-set motif] range between 2.873 (2) and 3.036 (3) Å and connect neighbouring IO(3) (-) anions with each other along [100], so as to create a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(18)H(12)N(2)O(4), is situated on a crystallographic centre of symmetry. The mol-ecule has a zigzag structure, with two parallel symmetry-related indoline-2,3-dione fragments linked by an ethyl-ene group at each N atom. In the crystal, the mol-ecules stack in columns along the b axis. There are two such columns in the structure. The mol-ecules within each column are parallel; however, the mol-ecules in the two columns differ in the respective orientation of the indoline-2,3-dione fragments. In one column, they are approximately parallel to (112), while in the other they are approximately parallel to (12). The inter-planar angle between the indoline-2,3-dione fragments in the two columns is 80.83?(3)°. The mol-ecules within each column are related by mutual displacement of their centres of symmetry, that is (0, ±1/2, ±1/2). The packing between the mol-ecules is provided by weak inter-actions only, viz. C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.8745?(8)?Å] and C=O?? inter-actions.

Project description:The binuclear title complex, [Cu2I2(C26H24P2)2(C5H12N2S)2], lies about an inversion centre. The Cu(I) atom displays a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry defined by one S atom of an N,N'-di-ethyl-thio-urea ligand, two P atoms derived from two bridging 1,2-bis-(di-phenyl-phosphan-yl)ethane (dppe) ligands and one iodide ion. The dppe ligand bridges two symmetry-related Cu(I) ions, forming a 10-membered Cu2P4C4 ring. An intra-molecular N-H⋯I hydrogen bond is noted. In the crystal, N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds link complex mol-ecules into layers parallel to (-101).

In the crystal structure, inter-molecular hydrogen bonding between adjacent urea groups gives rise to infinite polymeric chains diagonally across the bc plane. Project description:In the title compound, C(32)H(30)N(4)O(2)S(2), the carbonyl and thio-carbonyl groups are found in a rare synclinal conformation, with an S-C?C-O pseudo-torsion angle of 62.6?(2)°. The mol-ecule has C(i) = S(2) point-group symmetry with a crystallographic center of inversion located in the middle of the ethyl-ene bridge. One of the symmetry-independent phenyl rings is disordered over two orientations, with a site-occupation ratio of 70:30. The distances between the centroids of the nearest phenyl rings are equal to one of the lattice constants [a = 4.7767?(2)?Å], so stacking inter-actions are extremely weak. Mol-ecules are joined by bifurcated hydrogen bonds (N-H?O and N-H?S), forming a ladder-like arrangement along [100]. van der Waals forces combine these ladders into a three-dimensional structure. The dependency between the S?O distance and the improper S=C?C=O torsion angle based on 739 structures containing the CC(=O)NC(=S)N moiety is discussed.

1,2-Bis(phenyl-phosphor-yl)ethane.

Project description:The geometric parameters of the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(14)H(16)O(2)P(2), are in the usual ranges. It is a meso compound with the two chiral P atoms having opposite configurations. The P-CH(2)-CH(2)-P chain adopts a trans conformation [torsion angle -178.59?(17)°]. The P=O bonds are almost coplanar with the adjacent phenyl ring [torsion angles = 3.8?(3) and 0.3?(3)°]. Whereas one of them is synclinal [torsion angle = -59.0?(2)°] to the central C-C bond, the other is anti-clinal [torsion angle = 56.6?(2)°] to the central C-C bond. The dihedral angle between the two phenyl rings is 5.2?(3)°. The mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds. They crystallize in rows running along the c axis.

Project description:The reaction of benzoyl chloride and ethyl-endi-amine in the presence of potassium thio-cyanate yielded a white solid, C18H18N4O2S2, which consists of two benzoyl-thio-ureido moieties connected by an ethyl-ene chain. The asymmetric unit consists of one half of the mol-ecule, the complete mol-ecule being generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry. Both thio-urea moieties are in a trans conformation. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, C-H⋯S and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the molecules, forming layers parallel to the ac plane.

Project description:In the cation of the title salt, (C(12)H(14)N(2))[Cr(2)O(7)], the two pyridinium moieties are in an anti orientation with respect to one another. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings is 6.3?(2)°. The N-C-C-N torsion angle is 177.5?(2)°. In the dianion, the Cr(VI) ions are in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment and the bond angles at the independent Cr(VI) ions are in the ranges 105.93?(10)-110.60?(11) and 107.35?(11)-111.07?(12)°. The Cr-O-Cr angle is 127.96?(12)°. The crystal used was an inversion twin with refined components of 0.510?(19) and 0.490?(19).
