The mol-ecular structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond, which generates an S(6) ring motif. Project description:The title Schiff base compound, C15H15N3O3, crystallizes with two mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. Each mol-ecule adopts an E conformation around the C= N imine bond. The two mol-ecules have minor differences in their conformations. In mol-ecule A, the dihedral angle between the nitro group and its benzene ring is 2.1?(2)° and that between the two benzene rings is 0.88?(7)°, while the corresponding angles for mol-ecule B are 5.7?(1) and 2.45?(6)°, respectively. In each mol-ecule, there is an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond. In the crystal, inversion-related mol-ecules are linked via O-H?O hydrogen bonds forming A-A and B-B dimers. These dimers are linked via C-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the nitro O atoms, forming A-A-A and B-B-B slabs that lie parallel to one another and to (010).

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers by pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds with an R 2 (2)(22) graph-set motif. Aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid sep-ar-ations = 3.653?(3) and 3.852?(3)?Å] link the dimers into a three-dimensional network.

The former generates an S(6) loop via an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond and the latter generates an S(6) loop via an N-H⋯O hydro-gren bond. The aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 42.52 (10)°. In the crystal, C-H⋯π inter-actions occur and aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separations = 3.7106 (12) and 3.9177 (13) Å] consolidate the packing.

Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(21)N(3)O(3), is a potential bidentate Schiff base ligand. The whole mol-ecule is disordered with a refined site-occupancy ratio of 0.567?(4):0.433?(4) and not just one ethyl group as reported previously [Sarojini et al. (2007 ?). Acta Cryst. E63, o4782-o4782]. Using the whole mol-ecule disorder, R values are much smaller than those published. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond generates a six-membered ring, producing an S(6) ring motif. The dihedral angle between the mean plane of the two benzene rings (major component) is 9.0?(5)°. The crystal structure shows short C?C [3.189?(15)-3.298?(12)?Å] and C?O [2.983?(5)-3.149?(13)?Å] contacts. Inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions link neighbouring mol-ecules into dimers with R(2) (2)(18) motifs. In the crystal structure, these dimers are linked together by inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions into one-dimensional extended chains along the b axis. The crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.458?(8)-3.691?(6)?Å].

Project description:The title compound, C(2)H(8)N(+)·C(6)H(4)NO(3) (-)·C(6)H(5)NO(3), was synthesized from dimethyl-amine and 4-nitro-phenol in an overall yield of 85%. The dihdral angles between the nphenyl rings and their attached nitro groups are 5.7?(6) and 2.5?(7)°. In the crystal, there are strong hydrogen bonds between the ammonium group and the nitro-phenol and nitro-phenolate O atoms, and between the nitro-phenol and nitro-phenolate O atoms, forming a chain along the b-axis direction.

The respective O-N-C-C torsion angles are 6.0?(4) and 12.5?(4)°. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular N-H?O, C-H?O, O-H?O and O-H?N inter-actions into a three-dimensional network.
