ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title cocrystal, C(6)H(12)N(4)·2C(6)H(5)NO(3)·H(2)O, contains four formula units, which are linked by O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds into chains in the crystal. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin, with a minor twin component of 19%.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(2)Cl(3)O(2))(2)(C(6)H(12)N(4))(2)], the Cu(II) ion (site symmetry 2) is coordinated by two trichloro-acetate anions and two hexa-methyl-enetetra-mine mol-ecules, resulting in a distorted CuN(2)O(2) geometry that is inter-mediate between tetra-hedral and square planar. The Cl atoms are disordered over two sets of sites, with relative occupancies of 0.749?(7) and 0.251?(7). In the crystal, the packing is consolidated by inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(H(2)O)(6)]Cl(2)·2C(6)H(12)N(4)·4H(2)O, was prepared under mild hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit consists of one half of the [Cu(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation, a hexa-methyl-enetetra-mine mol-ecule, two solvent water mol-ecules and a chloride ion. The formula unit is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry. The Cu atom lies on a crystallographic inversion centre. It is in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the components into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(6)H(12)N(4))(CO)(2)]BF(4), the arrangement around the Fe(II) atom corresponds to that of a three-legged piano stool. The cyclo-penta-dienyl ligand occupies three coordination sites of the apical position in a ?(5) fashion, while two CO ligands and one N atom of the hexa-methyl-ene-tetra-mine ligand occupy the remaining coordination sites to complete a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The asymmetric unit consists of two sets of crystallographically independent cations and anions with the r.m.s. deviations of the overlay of non-H atoms of each pair being 0.081 and 0.120?Å, respectively. The Fe-N bond lengths are 2.0459?(15) and 2.0490?(14)?Å, while the Fe-Cp(centroid) distances are 1.7257?(3) and 1.7246?(3)?Å. One of the anions displays disorder, with the F atoms having occupancies of 0.58?(4) and 0.42?(4).

Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(23)N(2) (+)·Cl(-), is a non-merohedrally twinned salt [domains 0.9288?(3) and 0.0712?(3)] which crystallizes with four independent cation-anion pairs in the asymmetric unit. The seven-membered ring in each of the cations adopts a boat conformation, thus creating a butterfly effect within the ring system. The average value of the dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings in the four cations is 57.1?(1)°. The crystal packing is stabilized only slightly by a collection of inter-mediate N-H?Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, which produce a weak, but cooperative, infinite, one-dimensional, inter-molecular hydrogen-bond network along the a axis. A MOPAC PM3 computational calculation gives support to these observations.

Project description:Hexane-dioic acid (or adipic acid), C(6)H(10)O(4), crystallizes with two crystallographically independent half-mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the triclinic unit cell, space group P, as each mol-ecule lies across a crystallographic inversion centre. A monoclinic polymorph has been reported previously, most recently by Ranganathan, Kulkarni & Rao [J. Phys. Chem. A, (2003), 107, 6073-6081]. The mol-ecules adopt the expected zigzag structure and are linked via centrosymmetric pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming infinite one-dimensional chains along [011]. These chains are stacked along the a axis. The crystal is further stabilized by weak C-H?O inter-actions.
