1,2,4,5-Tetra-phenyl-1H-imidazole.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(27)H(20)N(2), contains two independent mol-ecules, A and B. In both mol-ecules, the N atom in the 1-position and the C atom in the 5-position are statistically disordered [as 0.571?(8):0.429?(8) in A and 0.736?(9):0.264?(9) in B]. The phenyl rings in the 1-, 2-, 4- and 5-positions in A are twisted from the central imidazole ring by 84.3?(2), 21.6?(2), 21.5?(2) and 75.7?(2)°, respectively. The corresponding dihedral angles in B are 85.5?(2), 3.8?(2), 2.4?(2) and 81.7?(2)°, respectively.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(27)H(20)N(2), contains two independent mol-ecules, A and B. 3-Phenyl-6-(2-pyrid-yl)-1,2,4,5-tetra-zine.

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(9)N(5), is the first asymmetric diaryl-1,2,4,5-tetra-zine to be crystallographically characterized. We have been inter-ested in this motif for incorporation into supra-molecular assemblies based on coordination chemistry. The solid state structure shows a centrosymmetric mol-ecule, forcing a positional disorder of the terminal phenyl and pyridyl rings. The mol-ecule is completely planar, unusual for aromatic rings with N atoms in adjacent ortho positions. The stacking observed is very common in diaryl-tetra-zines and is dominated by π stacking [centroid-to-centroid distance between the tetrazine ring and the aromatic ring of an adjacent molecule is 3.6 Å, perpendicular (centroid-to-plane) distance of about 3.3 Å].

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(9)H(6)I(2)N(2), contains two symmetry-independent mol-ecules. The inter-planar angles between the imidazole and phenyl ring planes are 16.35?(3) and 17.48?(6)°. Mol-ecules are connected via N-H?N hydrogen bonds to form zigzag chains along the b axis. The title compound is the first example of a structurally characterized 4,5-diiodo-imidazole with an organic substituent in the 2-position and without protection on the N-H group of imidazole.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(C44H28N4)(C4H6N2)2]·2C4H6N2, is a six-coordinate Fe(II)-porphyrinate complex with the metal located on a center of inversion and coordinated by two axial 1-methyl-imidazole ligands; the complex crystallizes as a 1-methyl-imidazole disolvate. The 1-methyl-imidazole group bonded to the Fe(II) atom [occupancy ratio 0.789 (4):0.211 (4)] and the unbound 1-methyl-imidazole mol-ecule [0.519 (4):0.481 (4)] were disordered. The average Fe-N(porphyrinate) bond length is 1.998 (3) Å and the axial Fe-N(imidazole) bond length is 1.9970 (12) Å. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-mol-ecule aggregate by two weak C-H⋯N inter-actions.

Both Co(II) ions are six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Co(II) ion that is located on an inversion center is coordinated by two O atoms from two water mol-ecules, as well as two O atoms and two N atoms from two imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands. The second Co(II) ion is bonded to four O atoms and two N atoms from four imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands. These metal coordination units are connected by bridging imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, generating a three-dimensional network. The crystal structure is further stabilized by N-H?O, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the water mol-ecules and the imidazole-4,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands.
