1,2-Bis(4-methyl-benz-yl)diselane.

ABSTRACT: The title mol-ecule, C(16)H(18)Se(2), features a diselenide bridge between two 4-methyl-benzyl units, in which the central C-Se-Se-C torsion angle is 88.1 (3)°, while the two Se-Se-C-C fragments assume gauche conformations, with torsion angles of -51.8 (5) and 59.1 (4)°. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 78.9 (2)°.

Project description:The title salt, C(16)H(24)N(4) (2+)·2C(7)H(7)O(3)S(-), crystallizes with the dication situated on an inversion center and the anion in a general position. The cation contains two ammonium and two free amine groups, and the observed conformation for the chain linking the benzene rings is different from that found in the free tetra-amine and in the fully protonated tetra-amine. All amine and ammonium H atoms of the cation form hydrogen bonds with eight symmetry-related anions, using the sulfonate O atoms as acceptors. This arrangement for the ions precludes any π-π contacts between benzene rings in the crystal.

In the crystal, the anions exhibit two different packing modes by stacking along the a axis in face-to-face and side-by-side fashions. The benzene rings of the benz-yloxy group make dihedral angles of 75.34?(6) and 83.95?(7)°, with the naphthalene ring system. Project description:In the ionic title complex, (C(13)H(11)N(2))(2)[Ni(C(4)N(2)S(2))(2)], the Ni(II) ion is located on an inversion centre so the asymmetric unit contains one-half [Ni(mnt)(2)](2-) dianion (mnt(2-) is maleonitrile-dithiolate) and one 1-(3-cyano-benz-yl)pyridinium cation ([CNBzPy](+)). The Ni(II) ion in the [Ni(mnt)(2)](2-) anion is coordinated by four S atoms of two mnt(2-) ligands, and exhibits square-planar coordination geometry. In the [CNBzPy](+) cation, the benzene and pyridine rings are twisted with respect to the C/C/N plane incorporating the methyl-ene C atom that links them. The crystal structure is stabilized by Coulombic inter-actions.

The Ni(2+) ion is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by four S atoms from two mnt(2-) ligands, exhibiting a square-planar coordination geometry. The cation adopts a conformation where both the pyrazine ring and the benzene ring are twisted with respect to the C-C-N reference plane by 16.5?(2) and 69.8?(1)°, respectively.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(16)H(14)O(2), a substituted benzil, the dicarbonyl unit has an s-trans conformation. This conformation is substanti-ated by the O-C-C-O torsion angle of 108.16 (15)°. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 72.00 (6)°. In the crystal structure, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked together by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions. In addition, the crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.6000 (8)-3.8341 (8) Å.

Project description:In the title salt, C16H24N4 (2+)·2NO3 (-), both the cation and anion are placed in general positions, although the cation displays non-crystallographic inversion symmetry, with the aliphatic chain extended in an all-trans conformation. The benzene rings are almost parallel, with a dihedral angle between their mean planes of 3.3 (6)°. The nitrate ions are placed in the vicinity of the protonated amine groups, forming efficient N-H⋯O inter-ion hydrogen bonds. Each nitrate ion in the asymmetric unit bridges two symmetry-related cations, forming an R 4 (4)(18) ring, a common motif in organic ammonium nitrate salts. This results in the formation of chains along [010] with alternating cations and anions. The neutral amine groups are involved in slightly weaker N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds with the nitrate O atoms, and there are also a number of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds present. The resulting supra-molecular structure is based on a two-dimensional network extending in the ab plane.
