ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(14)H(12)Br(2)Se(2), the Se-Se bond length [2.3034?(9)?Å] is similar to those in diphenyl diselenide [2.3066?(7) and 2.3073?(10)?Å] and shorter than that in 1,8-diselenona-phthalene [2.0879?(8)Å]. The mol-ecule adopts a classical gauche conformation.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, (C12H11BrN)2[Ni(C4N2S2)2], consists of one 1-(4-bromo-benz-yl)pyridinium cation and one half of a complex [Ni(mnt)2](2-) (mnt(2-) is the maleo-nitrile-dithiol-ate dianion). The Ni(2+) ion is located on an inversion centre and is coordinated by four S atoms from two mnt(2-) ligands, exhibiting a square-planar coordination environment. In the cation, the planes of the pyridinium and benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 69.86?(19)°. The cations and anions are alternately arranged in layers parallel to (001) and are held together by non-classical C-H?N hydrogen bonds.

The Ni(II) ion in the [Ni(mnt)(2)](2-) anion is coordinated by four S atoms of two mnt(2-) ligands, and exhibits square-planar coordination geometry. In the [CNBzPy](+) cation, the benzene and pyridine rings are twisted with respect to the C/C/N plane incorporating the methyl-ene C atom that links them. Project description:In the title salt, C16H24N4 (2+)·2NO3 (-), both the cation and anion are placed in general positions, although the cation displays non-crystallographic inversion symmetry, with the aliphatic chain extended in an all-trans conformation. The benzene rings are almost parallel, with a dihedral angle between their mean planes of 3.3?(6)°. The nitrate ions are placed in the vicinity of the protonated amine groups, forming efficient N-H?O inter-ion hydrogen bonds. Each nitrate ion in the asymmetric unit bridges two symmetry-related cations, forming an R 4 (4)(18) ring, a common motif in organic ammonium nitrate salts. This results in the formation of chains along [010] with alternating cations and anions. The neutral amine groups are involved in slightly weaker N-H?O hydrogen bonds with the nitrate O atoms, and there are also a number of C-H?O hydrogen bonds present. The resulting supra-molecular structure is based on a two-dimensional network extending in the ab plane.
