ABSTRACT: In the cation of the title compound, C(23)H(25)N(4)O(+)·PF(6) (-), the imidazolium ring make dihedral angles of 87.20?(6) and 79.89?(5)° with the pyridine ring and the quinoline system, respectively. In the crystal, C-H?F and C-H?N hydrogen bonds are observed.

Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(24)N(4) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), the ethene and 3-allyl-imidazolium moieties of the cation are disordered over two positions with refined site occupancies of 0.664?(19):0.336?(19) and 0.784?(7):0.216?(7), respectively, whereas four F atoms of one hexa-fluoridophosphate anion and all atoms in the other hexa-fluoridophosphate anion are disordered over two positions with refined site occupancies of 0.764?(5):0.2365) and 0.847?(9):0.153?(9), respectively. The benzene ring is inclined at angles of 78.2?(3), 81.3?(4) and 73.9?(12)° with the 1H-imidazol-3-ium ring and the major and minor components of the disordered 1H-imidazol-3-ium ring, respectively. In the crystal, the hexa-fluoridophosphate anions link the cations into two-dimensional networks parallel to (001) via inter-molecular C-H?F hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.672?(3)?Å] and C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(10)H(12)N(2))]PF(6), consists of a ferrocene-1-methyl-(3-methyl-imidazolium) cation and a hexa-fluorido-phosphate anion. The ferrocenyl rings are skewed by 6.7?(4)° from the ideal eclipsed conformation. The inter-planar angle between the plane of the substituted cyclo-penta-dienyl ring and that of the imidazole ring is 89.9?(4)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H?F hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C14H16N4O2 (2+)·2C9H5O6 (-), comprises half a dication, being located about a centre of inversion, and one anion, in a general position. The central C4N2O2 group of atoms in the dication are almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.009 Å), and the carbonyl groups lie in an anti disposition to enable the formation of intra-molecular amide-N-H⋯O(carbon-yl) hydrogen bonds. To a first approximation, the pyridinium and amide N atoms lie to the same side of the mol-ecule [Npy-C-C-Namide torsion angle = 34.8 (2)°], and the anti pyridinium rings are approximately perpendicular to the central part of the mol-ecule [dihedral angle = 68.21 (8)°]. In the anion, one carboxyl-ate group is almost coplanar with the ring to which it is connected [Cben-Cben-Cq-O torsion angle = 2.0 (3)°], whereas the other carboxyl-ate and carb-oxy-lic acid groups are twisted out of the plane [torsion angles = 16.4 (3) and 15.3 (3)°, respectively]. In the crystal, anions assemble into layers parallel to (10-4) via hy-droxy-O-H⋯O(carbon-yl) and charge-assisted hy-droxy-O-H⋯O(carboxyl-ate) hydrogen bonds. The dications are linked into supra-molecular tapes by amide-N-H⋯O(amide) hydrogen bonds, and thread through the voids in the anionic layers, being connected by charge-assisted pyridinium-N-O(carboxyl-ate) hydrogen bonds, so that a three-dimensional architecture ensues. An analysis of the Hirshfeld surface points to the importance of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding in the crystal structure.

The -CF3 group attached to the benzene ring is syn to the C=O bond in the adjacent side chain. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked to one another through the water mol-ecules by strong N-H?O, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming a ladder-type network. The benzamide mol-ecules are also linked to one another through C-H?F inter-actions, forming C(6) chains parallel to the b-axis direction. Aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separations = 3.7150?(1) and 3.7857?(1)?Å] between adjacent pairs of pyridine and benzene rings are also observed, resulting in a three-dimensional architecture are also observed.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H?O hydrogen bonds forming inversion dimers with an R 4 (4)(10) ring motif. The dimers are linked by C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming ribbons along [01-1]. The ribbons are linked by C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions [inter-centroid distance = 3.7109?(11)?Å], forming layers parallel to (01-1).
