ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(27)H(15)Br(2)ClO·C(3)H(7)NO, the xanthene moiety has a flattened boat conformation with a folding angle between the naphthalene units of 9.46?(3)°. The mean planes of the xanthene system and its 4-chloro-phenyl substituent are nearly perpendicular [dihedral angle = 89.43?(5)°]. The dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.520?(11):0.480?(11).

Synthesis and Cytotoxicity of N-Substituted Dibenzo[a,j]xanthene-3,11-dicarboxamide Derivatives.

Project description:In order to study the structure-activity relationships of xanthene derivatives, four series of N-substituted 14-aryl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthene-3,11-dicarboxamide derivatives were synthesized. The structures of all compounds were identified by ¹H-NMR, HR-MS and IR spectra, in which compounds 6a-h were further identified by 13C-NMR spectra. The in vitro antitumor activity of the synthesized compounds was tested by MTT assay. Most of them displayed strong inhibitory activity on human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines (SK-HEP-1, HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells) and acute promyelocytic leukemia NB4 cells. Compounds 6c-6e exhibited significant inhibitory activity against NB4 cells with IC50 values of 0.52 ?M and 0.76 ?M, respectively, much lower than 5.31 ?M of the positive control As?O?.

The dihedral angles between the triazine ring and the pendant rings are 3.61?(12) and 53.11?(12)°. An intra-molecular C-H?N inter-action occurs. The packing is stabilized by N-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-H?? and ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.763?(1)?Å] inter-actions.

Conventional N-H?O hydrogen bonds are formed between ammine ligands and the O atom of adjacent N,N-dimethyl-formamide mol-ecules. The two N atoms of the hydrazinecarboxamide group are involved in inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds in which the dimethyl-formamide O atom acts as acceptor. Project description:Biphenyl-4,4'-dicarb-oxy-lic acid was recrystallized from N,N-dimethyl-formamide (DMF) yielding the title compound, C(14)H(10)O(4)·2C(3)H(7)NO. The acid mol-ecules are located on crystallographic centres of inversion and are hydrogen bonded to DMF mol-ecules. These hydrogen-bonded units form infinite chains although there is no inter-action between the methyl groups of neighboring DMF mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(16)H(11)Br(2)NO(4))(C(3)H(7)NO)](2), there are two unique mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. Each Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two O atoms and one N atom from the tridentate ligand L(2-) [LH(2) = (E)-2-(3,5-dibromo-2-hydroxy-benzyl-idene-amino)-2-(4-hydroxy-phenyl)acetic acid] and the O atom of a dimethyl-formamide mol-ecule to give a slightly distorted square-planar geometry. The two unique mol-ecules form a dimer through weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds. In the dimer, the Cu?Cu distance is 3.712?(1)?Å. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules form a one-dimensional chain through C-H?O hydrogen bonds. These are further aggregated into a three-dimensional network by O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds.
