ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(8)H(4)F(3)N(3)O(2)·H(2)O, the main mol-ecule and the water mol-ecule are linked by an N-H?O hydrogen bond. O-H?N, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds further link the mol-ecules into sheets.

The crystal structure is stabilized by water mol-ecules via N-H?O(water), O(water)-H?O and O(water)-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming sheets parallel to the (100) plane. A short inter-molecular contact between the benzene and imidazole rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.6419?(10)?Å, indicates a ?-? inter-action.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(8)H(5)F(3)N(2), consists of two half-mol-ecules, one lies on a mirror plane and the other is generated by twofold rotation symmetry, with the axis running through the trifluoro-methyl C atom and the attached benzimidazole C atom. The two 2-trifluoro-methyl-1H-benzimidazole mol-ecules are connected by N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the disordered NH H atoms into chains running parallel to the c axis. One of the trifluoro-methyl groups is disordered over two orientations of equal occupancy.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(16)H(14)F(3)N(3)OS·H(2)O, contains two independent mol-ecules (A and B) and two water mol-ecules, one of which is disordered over two positions in a 0.790 (8):0.210 (8) ratio. The mol-ecular conformations are close, the benzimidazole mean plane and pyridine ring forming dihedral angles of 1.8 (3) and 0.1 (2)° in mol-ecules A and B, respectively. The water mol-ecules are involved in formation of two independent hydrogen-bonded chains via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. Chains propagating along the a axis are formed by mol-ecule A and one independent water mol-ecule, while chains propagating along the b axis are formed by mol-ecule B and the other independent water mol-ecule. The crystal packing exhibits π-π inter-actions, as indicated by short distances of 3.607 (3) and 3.701 (3) Å between the centroids of the imidazole and pyridine rings of neighbouring mol-ecules.

1-Methyl-6-nitro-1H-benzimidazole.

Project description:The title compound, C(8)H(7)N(3)O(2), a potential anti-tumour drug and an anti-oxidant agent, was studied in order to give more insight into structure-function relationships. The 1-methyl-benzimidazole unit of the mol-ecule was found to be exactly planar and the nitro group is inclined at an angle of 10.4 (2)° to the plane of the heterocycle. The bond lengths in the present derivative were analyzed in details and compared with those of the parent unsubstituted analogues in the Cambridge Structural Database. The results have shown that the additional nitro group is not involved in conjugation with the adjacent π-system and hence has no effect on the charge distribution of the heterocyclic ring.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C9H9N3O2S, is built up from fused five- and six-membered rings connected to methyl-sulfanyl and nitro groups, respectively. The mean plane through the fused ring system is inclined slightly relative to the plane passing through the nitro group [dihedral angle = 3.6 (2)°]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions between imidazole rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.667 (3) Å], forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(14)F(3)N(3)OS·H(2)O, which had been previously characterized in the space group P-1 [Ren et al. (2011 ?). Acta Cryst. E67, o270], has now been crystallized from 1-propanol in the monoclinic form in the space group P2(1)/c. While the triclinic form is a Z' = 2 crystal, the new monoclinic polymorph includes one main mol-ecule and one water lattice mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. In the crystal, the water mol-ecule is sandwiched between neighboring main mol-ecules and behaves as both donor and acceptor in O-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds with the imidazole N atoms. This pattern of chains parallel to [100] further inter-acts via O-H?N(pyridine) contacts.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(8)H(6)F(3)N(2) (+)·BF(4) (-)·C(8)H(5)F(3)N(2)·H(2)O, consists of two 2-trifluoro-methyl-benzimidazole mol-ecules, each of which is protonated on a 50% basis, one tetra-fluoro-borate anion and a water mol-ecule. The two 2-trifluoromethylbenzimidazole mol-ecules thus exist as half-neutral half-cation entities. They are linked by N-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the half-occupancy hydrogens in each mol-ecule. The F atoms of one of the trifluoro-methyl groups are disordered over two sets of sites [in a 0.518?(14):0.482?(14) ratio], as are the F atoms of the tetra-fluoroborate anion [0.507?(14):0.493?(14) ratio]. The water mol-ecule is linked to one of the 2-trifluoro-methyl-benzimidazole mol-ecules via an N-H?O hydrogen bond.

Project description:In the title compound, C(19)H(13)F(3)N(2)O·H(2)O, the phenyl and pyrroloquinoline ring system are close to coplanar [dihedral angle = 10.94?(4)°]. The meth-oxy group also is almost coplanar with the phenyl ring [5.4?(1)°]. In the crystal structure N-H?O(water) and water-quinoline O-H?N hydrogen bonds build up a supra-molecular chain-like arrangement along [001]. The remaining H atom of the water mol-ecule does not take part in classical hydrogen bonds. Instead, this O-H bond points toward the center of the phenyl ring of a neighbouring mol-ecule. Weak C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions are also present.

Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(9)F(3)N(2)O, the best planes of the benzimidazole group and benzene ring form a dihedral angle of 26.68 (3)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite chains parallel to the c axis. Stacking inter-actions between the benzimidazole groups [centroid-centroid distance = 3.594 (5) Å] assemble the mol-ecules into layers parallel to (100). The trifluoro-methyl group is disordered over three sets of sites with site-occupancy factors of 0.787 (4), 0.107 (7) and 0.106 (7).

These chains are connected via weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds.
