In both mol-ecules the quinoline ring system is essentially planar [maximum deviations from the best plane of 0.0232?(13) 0.0089?(15)?Å]. The angle between these planes is 22.40?(3)°. Conformers A and B are arranged face-to-face along the c axis, forming alternating pairs in the order AABB. The inter-planar distances AA, AB and BB are 3.3166?(11), 3.2771?(11) and 3.3935?(11)?Å, respectively. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H?Cl and C-H?N inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(9)Cl(2)NO(2), was prepared by the esterification of 3,7-dichloro-quinoline-8-carboxylic acid with triethyl phosphite. The crystal structure is stabilized by aromatic π-π stacking between the benzene and the pyridine rings of neighbouring mol-ecules [centroid-centroid distances = 3.716 (2) and 3.642 (2) Å]. In addition, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are present in the structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(2)N(3))(2)(C(12)H(6)Cl(2)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two chelating 4,7-dichloro-1,10-phenanthroline (4,7-Cl-phen) ligands and two dicyanamide (dca) ligands in a cis arrangement, forming a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The equatorial plane is occupied by three N atoms from two 4,7-Cl-phen ligands and one N atom from a dca ligand at shorter Cu-N distances. Due to the Jahn-Teller effect, the axial positions are occupied by a 4,7-Cl-phen N atom and a dca N atom at longer Cu-N distances. The dca ligands are nearly planar, with a maximum deviations of 0.006 (1) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, with cyanide N atoms as acceptors, and π-π inter-actions between adjacent phenyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.725 (3) Å].

The free water mol-ecules are involved in inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding with the coordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate O atoms, to give a one-dimensional helical chain along the [100] direction.

Project description:In the title compound, C(23)H(15)Cl(2)NS, the quinoline system is almost planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.013?(2)?Å]. The phenyl group is disordered over two positions with site occupancies of 0.55 and 0.45, and is oriented in a nearly perpendicular configuration to the quinoline ring [the dihedral angles between the quinoline ring and the major and minor disordered components of the phenyl ring are 81.8?(2) and 71.6?(2)°, respectively]. The dihydro-thiene ring adopts an envelope conformation. The dihedral angle between the chloro-phenyl ring and the quinoline system is 79.32?(1)°. In the crystal weak C-H?? inter-actions occur.
