In both mol-ecules the quinoline ring system is essentially planar [maximum deviations from the best plane of 0.0232?(13) 0.0089?(15)?Å]. The angle between these planes is 22.40?(3)°. Conformers A and B are arranged face-to-face along the c axis, forming alternating pairs in the order AABB. The inter-planar distances AA, AB and BB are 3.3166?(11), 3.2771?(11) and 3.3935?(11)?Å, respectively. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H?Cl and C-H?N inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(2)N(3))(2)(C(12)H(6)Cl(2)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two chelating 4,7-dichloro-1,10-phenanthroline (4,7-Cl-phen) ligands and two dicyanamide (dca) ligands in a cis arrangement, forming a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The equatorial plane is occupied by three N atoms from two 4,7-Cl-phen ligands and one N atom from a dca ligand at shorter Cu-N distances. Due to the Jahn-Teller effect, the axial positions are occupied by a 4,7-Cl-phen N atom and a dca N atom at longer Cu-N distances. The dca ligands are nearly planar, with a maximum deviations of 0.006?(1)?Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H?N hydrogen bonds, with cyanide N atoms as acceptors, and ?-? inter-actions between adjacent phenyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.725?(3)?Å].

The free water mol-ecules are involved in inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding with the coordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate O atoms, to give a one-dimensional helical chain along the [100] direction.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(C(10)H(4)Cl(2)NO(2))(2)](n), the Co(II) cation lies on a twofold rotation axis. Each cation is N,O-chelated by the carboxyl-ate anions of two 3,7-dichloro-quinoline-8-carboxyl-ate ligands. The second carboxyl-ate O atom of each ligand coordinates to the Co(II) cation of an adjacent mol-ecule, linking the cations into a linear chain. Strong inter-chain ?-? stacking inter-actions are observed in the crystal structure (perpendicular distance 3.42?Å, centroid-to-centroid distance 3.874?Å).
