The propyne group is almost linear, the C-C C angle being 176.5?(2)°, and is also in the flagpole position on the O atom. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via N-H?O and C-H?O inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the nitro-group O atoms as acceptors.

This results in a short intra-molecular O =C?O=C contact of 2.7201?(17)?Å between the amide O atom and the ester carbonyl C atom. The prop-2-enamide fragment and the nitro group make dihedral angles of 20.42?(6) and 13.54?(17)°, respectively, with the benzene ring. The 1,2,4-triazole ring forms dihedral angles of 2.13?(10) and 75.52?(10)° with the two substituted benzene rings in one mol-ecule, with corresponding values of 19.36?(11)° and 89.03?(10)° in the other. The nitro groups are twisted from the attached benzene ring in each mol-ecule. Project description:Two independent but very similar mol-ecules comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(17)H(15)NO(2)S. The mol-ecules have L-shapes with the dihedral angles between the fused-ring system (r.m.s. deviations = 0.036 and 0.019?Å, respectively) and the benzene ring being almost the same, i.e. 82.98?(12) and 84.46?(13)°, respectively. The terminal ethenyl group is almost coplanar with the ring to which it is connected [C-C-C-C torsion angles = -173.7?(4) and -171.7?(4)°, respectively]. Supra-molecular arrays parallel to (-124) stabilized by C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions feature in the crystal packing.
