ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ni(C??H?N?)(H?O)?]SO?, consists of a complex [Ni(bipy)(H?O)?]²? cation (bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine) and a non-coordinating [SO?]²? anion. The Ni(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry defined by the two N atoms of the bipy ligand and four water O atoms. The crystal structure contains extensive classical O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which link the ions into a two-dimensional array in the ab plane. Layers are connected into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure by C-H?O inter-actions.

The Zn(II) complex cation, with approximate twofold symmetry, displays a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry around the Zn(II) atom, which is coordinated by two N atoms from a 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand and by the O atoms of four water mol-ecules. Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, obtained from a basic solution of 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ate and nickel(II) chloride in water, the central Ni(II) cation (site symmetry 2) is coordinated by two N atoms from the 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and four aqua O atoms. The N-Ni-N angle is 78.64?(8)°. Weak but significant ?-? stacking inter-actions exist between the pyridine rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.652?(8)?Å. In addition, four O atoms of the two carboxyl groups form hydrogen bonds with both coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules, forming an infinite three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title complex, [Ni(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4)S(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Ni(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, three carboxyl-ate O atoms (one bidentate and one monodentate) from two different disulfanediyldibenzoate ligands and one O atom from a coordinated water mol-ecule in an octa-hedral coordination geometry. The disulfanediyldibenzo-ate dianion bridges two Ni(II )atoms. Adjacent mol-ecules are linked through the coordinated water mol-ecules, forming a O-H?O hydrogen-bonded chain running along the a axis.

The dianion is located about an inversion center; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, a sulfonatoisophthalate group, a water mol-ecule along with two bridging water mol-ecules in an octa-hedral geometry. The cation lies on a twofold rotation axis; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four water mol-ecules and a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A partially overlapped arrangement between the bipyridine ligands and the aromatic ring of the sulfoisophthalate group of adjacent anions is observed; the distance (3.357 Å) indicates π-π stacking. Hydrogen bonds, with the water mol-ecules serving as hydrogen-bond donors, lead to a three-dimensional network architecture.

In the crystal, O-H?O and C-H?O, C-H?Br hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions [mean inter-planar distance of 3.475?(6)?Å between adjacent 2,2'-bipyridine ligands] link the cations and anions into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. One Br atom is disordered over two sites with occupancy factors of 0.55 and 0.45.

Project description:In the crystal of the title polymeric complex, [Ni(2)(C(18)H(4)O(10))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(8)](n), each Ni(II) cation is coord-in-ated by four water mol-ecules in the equatorial plane, and is further bridged by an 9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydro-anthracene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carb-oxy-l-ate anion and a 4,4'-bipyridine ligand in the axial directions, forming a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The 9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydro-anthracene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carboxyl-ate anion is centrosymmetric with the centroid of the quinone ring located about an inversion center; the 4,4'-bipyridine ligand is also centrosymmetric with the mid-point of the C-C bond linking two pyridine rings located about another invertion center. The 9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydro-anthracene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carboxyl-ate anion and bypiridine ligand bridge the Ni(II) cations, forming a polymeric chain along the b axis. ?-? stacking is observed between pyridine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.705?(2)?Å]. All of the coordinating water mol-ecules are involved in O-H?O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)N(2)O(6))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·C(4)H(8)O, features a penta-coordinate Cu(II) atom bound by two monodentate carboxyl-ate ligands, a bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule [dihedral angle between pyridine rings = 5.0 (2)°] and a water mol-ecule. The resulting N(2)O(3) donor set defines a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with the coordinated water mol-ecule in the apical position. In the crystal, the presence of O-H(w)⋯O(c) (w = water and c = carbon-yl) hydrogen bonding leads to the formation of a supra-molecular chain propagating along the c axis, which associates into a double chain via C-H⋯ O and π-π contacts between pyridyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.527 (3) Å]. The solvent mol-ecules, which are disordered over two orientations in a 0.678 (11):0.322 (11) ratio, occupy voids defined by the complex mol-ecules and are held in place via C-H⋯O inter-actions.
