Trans-Bis(nitrato-?O)bis-(1,10-phenanthroline-?(2)N,N')manganese(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Mn(NO(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Mn(II) atom lies on a twofold rotation axis, and is six-coordinated in a distorted trans-N(4)O(2) octa-hedral environment by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from two nitrate anions. The nitrate anion is disordered about a twofold rotation axis with fixed occupancy factors of 0.5. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 4.088?(5)?Å] into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(NO(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](n), the Mn(II) atoms are linked by nitrate ligands to form a chain. Each Mn(II) atom is five-coordinated by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and three O atoms of two nitrates within a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. In the crystal structure, the chains are linked by hydrogen bonds into a polymeric ribbon structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Pb(NO(3))(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))(2)], the lead ion is chelated by two 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen) ligands and two nitrate anions in a slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. Intra- and inter-molecular π-π stacking is present in the crystal structure, and the centroid-centroid distances between the benzene and pyridine rings of adjacent dmphen ligands are 3.492 (3) and 3.592 (3) Å, respectively. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)], the Mn(II) atom in the centrosymmetric binuclear unit has a distorted octa-hedral geometry and is coordinated by a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, two monodentate carboxyl-ate anions from two 4-nitro-phthalates and two coordinated water mol-ecules. The two Mn(II) ions in the mol-ecule are bridged by two 4-nitro-phthalate anions, both in a bis-monodentate mode, which finally leads to the formation of the binuclear unit. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated and uncoordinated O atoms of one monodentate carboxyl-ate group and the corresponding coordinated water mol-ecules result in an eight-membered and two six-membered rings. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the dinuclear mol-ecules into supra-molecular chains propagating parallel to [100].

Project description:The title complex, [Mn(C(5)O(5))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], lies across a crystallographic twofold axis which passes through the Mn atom and bisects the croconate ligand. The two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands are arranged in a propeller manner and the local mol-ecular geometry of the MnN(4)O(2) unit is severely distorted octa-hedral. This may be inter-preted as a structural perturbation of the MnN(4) square by the croconate ligand. In the crystal structure, the dipole moments of the mol-ecules are arranged alternately along the +b and -b directions. All the phen ligands are involved in π stacking inter-actions, alternately along the [110] and [10] directions. The alternate spacings between the neighbouring phen planes in the one-dimensional π stacks are 3.361 (2) and 3.526 (2) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]SO(4)·6H(2)O, the complex cations assemble into positively charged sheets parallel to (010) via inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions with a mean interplanar distance of 3.410?(6) along [100] and 3.465?(5)?Å along [001]. The sulfate anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules are inter-connected between these layers by hydrogen bonds, forming negatively charged layers which are linked to the positive layers through O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional architecture. Both the positive and negative sheets are stacked along [010] in an ?ABAB? sequence, the A layers being shifted by 1/2a along [100] with respect to the B layers. One of the uncoordinated water molecules is equally disordered over two positions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(NO3)(C12H8N2)2][C(CN)3], is formed of discrete [Cu(NO3)(phen)2](+) complex cations (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline) and C(CN)3(-) counter-anions. The Cu(II) atom has an asymmetric tetragonal-bipyramidal (4 + 1+1) stereochemistry with a pseudo-C2 symmetry axis bis-ecting the nitrate ligand and passing through the Cu(II) atom between the two phen ligands. The structure is stabilized by C-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak ?-? inter-actions between nearly parallel benzene and pyridine rings of two adjacent phen mol-ecules, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.684?(2) and 3.6111?(2)?Å, and between ?-electrons of the tricyano-methanide anion and the pyridine or benzene rings [N?(ring centroid) distances = 3.553?(3)-3.875?(3)?Å].

Project description:The reaction of cadmium nitrate and sodium nitrite in the presence of 1,10-phenanthroline yields the mixed nitrate-nitrite title complex, [Cd(NO(2))(1.75)(NO(3))(0.25)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]. The metal ion is bis-chelated by two N-heterocycles as well as by the nitrate/nitrite ions in a distorted dodeca-hedral CdN(4)O(4) coordination environment. One nitrite group is ordered; the other is disordered with respect to a nitrate group (ratio 0.75:0.25) concerning the O atom that is not involved in bonding to the metal ion.
