ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(C(21)H(17)N(5))(2)](C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7))(2)·2CH(3)OH, the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by six N atoms from two tridentate 2,6-bis-(1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine ligands in a distorted octa-hedral environment. In the crystal, the picrate anions and methanol solvent mol-ecules are connected by O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds are also observed.

In the crystal structure, the picrate anions and solvent dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules are connected to the cation via inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds. Further stabilization is provided by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds. One of the DMF moleclues is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.737?(3) and 0.263?(3).

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(30)H(26)N(4)O)(2)](C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7))(2)·2C(3)H(7)NO, the Zn(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment involving four equatorial N atoms and two O atoms in axial sites. The dihedral angles between the benzimidazole ring system and the phenyl rings in each of the benzyl-benzimidazole units are 78.56?(12), 81.68?(11), 75.76?(10) and 85.78?(9)°. In the crystal structure, there are weak but significant inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.685?(1) and 3.978?(1)?Å.

The lengths of the chemically equivalent Cd-O bonds [2.4850?(16) and 2.5488?(16)Å] are signiificantly different. One of the picrate anions is disordered over two sets of sites, with refined occupancies of 0.504?(15) and 0.496?(15). A 0.5-occupancy acetonitrile solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two sites with equal occupancies. The H atoms of a 0.25-occupancy solvent water mol-ecule were neither located nor included in the refinement.

In one of the anions one nitro group is rotationally disordered about the C-N bond with refined occupancies of 0.524?(8) and 0.476?(8).

Project description:The dinuclear title compound, [Pb(2)(C(6)H(8)O(4))(NO(3))(2)(C(19)H(13)N(5))(2)], lies with the mid-point of the butyl chain of the bridging adipate unit on a center of inversion. The Pb(II) ion is covalently bonded to the nitrate anion and is bonded to a carboxyl-ate group of the adipate unit by another covalent bond. The N-heterocycle functions in a chelating tridentate mode. The metal atom exists in a ?-octa-hedral coordination environment. When weaker Pb?O inter-actions are also considered, the geometry is a ?-tricapped trigonal prism in which the lone-pair electrons occupy one face of the trigonal prism. Adjacent mol-ecules are linked into a layer structure by N-H?O hydrogen bonds.
