ABSTRACT: In the cation of the title salt, C(18)H(23)N(2) (+)·C(24)H(20)B(-), the pyridine ring forms a dihedral angle of 14.23?(6)° with the benzene ring. One of the ethyl groups of the cation was refined as disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancies.

Project description:In the course of substitution studies on the iron dihydrogen complex trans-[Fe(DMeOPrPE)(2)(H(2))H](BPh(4)) {DMeOPrPE = 1,2-bis-[bis-(methoxy-prop-yl)phosphino]ethane}, we discovered an unexpected transformation of the diphosphine ligand to a diphospho-nium dication without the use of any typical methyl-ating reagent. The P atoms in the dication of the title compound, C(20)H(46)O(4)P(2) (2+)·2C(24)H(20)B(-)·C(4)H(10)O, have a distorted tetra-hedral coordination with P-C(Me) distances of 1.791?(2) and 1.785?(2)?Å. The P-C-C-P torsion angle about the central dimethyl-ene bridge is -168.3?(1)°.

The dimers are linked by C-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-H?? inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title salt, C15H36N6 (2+)·2C24H20B(-), the three N-C bond lengths in the central C3N unit of the bis-amidinium ion range between 1.388 (3) and 1.506 (3) Å, indicating single- and double-bond character. Furthermore, four C-N bonds have double-bond character. Here, the bond lengths range from 1.319 (3) to 1.333 (3) Å. Delocalization of the positive charges occurs in the N/C/N and C/N/C planes. The dihedral angle between both N/C/N planes is 70.5 (2)°. In the crystal, C-H⋯π inter-actions between H atoms of the cation and the benzene rings of both tetra-phenyl-borate ions are present. The benzene rings form aromatic pockets, in which the bis-amidinium ion is embedded. This leads to the formation of a two-dimensional supra-molecular pattern along the ab plane.

Project description:The title mol-ecular salts, C16H16NO+·PF6 -, (I), and C21H21N2 +·PF6 -, (II), are pyridine derivatives. In compound (I), the cation comprises a methyl N-substituted pyridine ring and a meth-oxy-substituted benzene ring connected by a C=C double bond. The F atoms of the PF6 - anion are disordered over two sets of sites with refined occupancy factors of 0.614?(7):0.386?(7). In compound (II), the cation comprises a pyridine ring attached to unsubstituted phenyl ring and a di-methyl-aniline ring, which are connected by a C=C double bond. The anion is PF6 -. In both salts, the cation adopts an E configuration with respect to the C=C bond. The pyridine ring makes a dihedral angle of 9.86?(12)° with the meth-oxy-substituted benzene ring in compound (I) and 11.2?(3)° with the di-methyl-amine-substituted benzene ring in compound (II). In compound (I), the crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H?F inter-molecular inter-actions which result in R 4 3(14) ring motifs, forming mol-ecular sheets running parallel to (03). These are further stabilized by weak P-F?? interactions. In compound (II), the crystal packing is stabilized by C-H?F inter-actions, which result in R 6 6(40) ring motifs, forming mol-ecular sheets running parallel to (101) and these are further connected by ?-? inter-actions.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Ru(C(10)H(15))(C(13)H(10)O)](C(24)H(20)B), consists of discrete [Cp*Ru(II)benzophenone] cations and tetra-phenyl-borate anions (Cp* = penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-dien-yl). Tethering the Cp*Ru group to one aryl ring of benzophenone results in average values of 1.42?(1) and 1.38?(1)?Å for the C-C bond lengths in the Ru-tethered and untethered phenyl rings, respectively. The dihedral angle between the benzene and phenyl rings of the benzophenone group is 50.5?(1)°.

Project description:The title compound, C(27)H(39)N(2) (+)·C(24)H(20)B(-)·2CH(2)Cl(2), is the first reported imidazolidinium cation with the sterically demanding 2,6-diisopropyl-phenyl groups in the 1,3-positions. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H??(arene) inter-actions. Due to the bulky nature of both the flanking 2,6-diisopropyl-phenyl substituents and the tetra-phenyl-borate counter-ion, anion inter-actions with the imidazolidinium H atom in the 2-position are not observed, also a first for this class of ortho-alkyl-substituted Arduengo-type carbene precursors.
