ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cd(C(2)N(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Cd(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by four N atoms from two chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from two monodentate dicyanamide ligands. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two bipyridine ligands is 87.67?(6)°.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear mol-ecule of the title compound, [Cd(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Cd(2+) ion is coordinated by three O atoms from two different diphenyl-dicarboxyl-ate (dpa) ligands (one O,O'-bidentate and one monodentate), a chelating bipyridine ligand and a water mol-ecule, generating an extremely distorted trigonal-prismatic (or irregular) CdN(2)O(4) coordination geometry for the metal ion. The bridging ligands generate an 18-membered ring, which is stabilized by two pairs of intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(C(2)HN(9))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. The asymmetric unit contains the cadmium complex, half a 2,2'-bipyridine solvent mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from an HBTA(-) anion ligand [where H(2)BTA is N,N-bis-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)amine], forming an octa-hedral geometry. The complex is linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H⋯N and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and by the stacking inter-actions of rings, with distances of 3.5-3.7 Å between the atoms of two parallel 2,2'-bipyridine rings.

The dihedral angle formed by the mean planes through the bipyridine ligands is 87.01?(11)°. In the crystal packing, ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.837?(6) and 3.867?(11)?Å] link adjacent complex mol-ecules into chains running parallel to the b axis. Project description:The asymmetric unit of title compound, [Cd(C(9)H(6)NO(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·2H(2)O, consists of one complex mol-ecule, one half of an uncoordinated 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule and two solvent water mol-ecules. The uncoordinated 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule is located on a center of symmetry. Within the complex mol-ecule, the Cd(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and three O atoms from two 1H-indole-2-carboxyl-ate anion ligands, completing a distorted CdN(4)O(3) penta-gonal bipyra-mid. The mol-ecules are assembled into one-dimensional chains along the [100] direction through classical hydrogen bonds (O-H?N, N-H?O and O-H?O). The resulting chains are further connected into two-dimensional supra-molecular layers parallel to the (110) direction by inter-molecular classical hydrogen bonds (N-H?O and O-H?O) from adjacent chains. A three-dimensional supra-molecular network is formed via interlayer and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Cd(C(9)H(7)N(2)O(2)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the complex mol-ecules are located on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis and the Cd(II) ion is octa-hedrally coordinated by two chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups of two 2-(benzimidazol-2-ylsulfan-yl)acetate ligands. The two carboxyl-ate ligands adopt a cis configuration with respect to each other. Within each of these ligands, the imidazole fragments are bent back in a loop towards the acetyl groups, forming intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds, which help to stablilize the mononuclear complex. Adjacent mol-ecules are further linked by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a chain along the c axis.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(9)H(7)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], was synthesized under mild hydro-thermal conditions. The structure of the complex mol-ecule consists of four approximately planar fragments: two 3-(3-hy-droxyphenyl)propenoate residues and two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands [largest deviation from the least-squares planes is 0.240 (1) Å for one of 3-(3-hy-droxy-phenyl)propenoate residues]. The dihedral angles formed by the least-squares planes of the 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and the opposite 3-(3-hy-droxyphenyl)propenoate residues are 22.68 (7) and 26.47 (6)°. The CdN(4)O(4) coordination polyhedron can be described as distorted dodecahedral. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between carboxyl-ate O atoms and hy-droxy groups lead to the formation of chains along the a-axis direction.

Adjacent mol-ecules are linked through the coordinated water mol-ecules, forming a O-H?O hydrogen-bonded chain running along the a axis.

The coordination geometry approximates a trigonal prism. The crystal packing features weak C-H⋯S inter-actions, leading to linear supra-molecular chains along the a axis. The primary connections between these are by π-π stacking inter-actions [ring centroid distance between centrosymmetrically related pyridyl rings = 3.7455 (10) Å]. Overall, the crystal structure may be described as comprising double layers of mol-ecules that stack along the b axis.
