In the ligand, the cyclo-penta-dienyl ring forms dihedral angles of 60.36?(6) and 82.93?(6)° with the two benzene rings of the diphenyl-phosphine group, while the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 67.4?(5)°.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(20)H(31)NO(8), has pseudo-C2 symmetry about the C-N bond, with the bis-(tert-butoxy-carbon-yl)amino group twisted from the benzene ring plane by ca 60° and the bulky tert-butoxy-carbonyl (Boc) groups are orientated away from the substituted aniline group. As part of an anti-bacterial drug discovery programme furnishing analogues of platensimycin, we unexpectedly synthesized the bis-Boc-protected aniline.

Project description:In the title compound, [Fe(C(20)H(21)NPS)(C(17)H(14)PS)]·CH(2)Cl(2), both cyclo-penta-dienyl (Cp) rings constituting the ferrocene unit are substituted by a sulfur-protected diphenyl-phosphine. One of the Cp ligands is additionally substituted by a dimethyl-amino-methyl group causing the chirality of the mol-ecule. Surprisingly, although the synthetic procedure yielded the title compound as a racemic mixture, the reported crystal is enanti-omerically pure with the R absolute configuration. The dimethyl-amino group is exo with respect to the Cp ring. Both diphenyl-thio-phosphine groups are trans with respect to the centroid-Fe-centroid direction. Weak intra-molecular C-H⋯S and C-H⋯π inter-actions between symmetry-related mol-ecules are observed. The contribution of the disordered solvent was removed from the refinement using SQUEEZE in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155].

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title compound, C(64)H(62)N(4), the two phenyl-ethynyl groups lie at diagonal meso positions. The 24-membered porphyrin has in-plane distortion with respect to the mean plane of the macrocycle and two intra-ring bifurcated N-H?(N,N) hydrogen bonds occur. The dihedral angles between the phenyl rings in the phenyl-ethynyl group and the 3,5-bis-(tert-but-yl)phenyl group with respect to the mean plane of the porphyrin are 17.2?(2) and 59.2?(3)°. The tert-butyl groups are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.661?(13):0.339?(13) ratio.

Crystal structure of 1,2-bis-[(2-tert-butyl-phen-yl)imino]-ethane.

Project description:The whole molecule of the title compound, C22H28N2, (I), is generated by inversion symmetry. The mol-ecule is rather similar to that of 2,3-bis-[(2-tert-butyl-phen-yl)imino]-butane, (II), a di-imine ligand comprising similar structural features [Ferreira et al. (2006 ▶). Acta Cryst. E62, o4282-o4284]. Both ligands crystallize with the -N=C(R)-C(R)=N- group around an inversion centre, in a trans configuration. Comparing the two structures, it may be noted that the independent planar groups in both mol-ecules [the central link, -N=C(R)-C(R)=N-, and the terminal aromatic ring] subtend an angle of 69.6 (1)° in (II) and 49.4 (2)° in (I). Ferreira and co-workers proposed that such angle deviation may be ascribed to the presence of two non-classical intra-molecular hydrogen bonds and steric factors. In fact, in (I), similar non-classical hydrogen bonds are observed, and the larger angular deviation in (II) may be assigned to the presence of methyl groups in the di-imino fragment, which can cause steric hindrance due to the presence of bulky tert-butyl substituents in the aromatic rings. The C=N bond lengths are similar in both compounds and agree with comonly accepted values.
