ABSTRACT: Polystyrene nanoparticles stained with squaraine catenane endoperoxide exhibit remarkably high chemiluminescence and enable optical imaging of biodistribution in living mice. Whole-body chemiluminescence imaging was much more effective than fluorescence at identifying lung accumulation of the nanoparticles.
