Dichlorido{2,6-diisopropyl-N-[(S)-pyrrolidin-2-ylmeth-yl]aniline-?(2) N,N'}palladium(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [PdCl2(C17H28N2)], the Pd(II) atom displays a square-planar coordination involving two N atoms of a 2,6-diisopropyl-N-[(S)-pyrrolidin-2-ylmeth-yl]aniline ligand and two chloride ligands, with a deviation of 0.090?(1)?Å for the Pd(II) atom from the best plane. The absolute configuration of the chiral C atom of the pyrrolidine ring is S, which induces R configurations at the two N atoms of the aniline ligand. Optical isomerism arising from the chelate five-membered ring is configured as ?. The Pd-N bond lengths are 2.040?(3) and 2.072?(2)?Å, and the Pd-Cl bond lengths are 2.3055?(8) and 2.3160?(8)?Å. In the crystal, pairs of N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules into discrete dimers.

The thio-phene ring is rotationally disordered over two orientations in a 1:1 ratio. The crystal packing exhibits weak inter-molecular C-H?Cl and C-H?S hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, (C(28)H(43)N(2))[SnCl(3)], two pairs of molecular species are present in the asymmetric unit. The employed α-diimine opens up, forming a highly asymmetric ammonium that has its protons at one of the N atoms [N-C= 1.264 (4) and 1.516 (4) Å]. One of the C=N double bonds was oxidized to C-N, which is consistent with the bond length of 1.516 (4) Å. Meanwhile Sn(IV) was reduced to Sn(II). The (SnCl)(3) (-) anion is trigonal-pyramidal. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯N and C-H⋯N bonds. The crystal studied was twinned by pseudo-merohedry.

Project description:The title compound, C24H32N2O2, was prepared by Horner olefination of 4-di-ethyl-amino-3,5-diiso-propyl-benzaldehyde and diethyl p-nitro-benzyl-phospho-nate. There are two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. Their main axes, defined by the line connecting the N atoms of the nitro and amino groups, open an angle of 79.42?(3)°. Steric hindrance around the amino group is reflected in a long aryl C-N bond [1.434?(3)?Å for mol-ecule A and 1.440?(3)?Å for mol-ecule B], a pyramidal geometry [angle sum = 350.0?(2)° for mol-ecule A and 349.6?(2)° for mol-ecule B], and dihedral angles between the phenyl-ene group and the plane defined by the CH2-N-CH2 unit of 86.9?(3)° for mol-ecule A and 88.3?(3)° for mol-ecule B. This gives structural support for the electronic decoupling of the amino group from the nearly planar nitro-stilbene moiety (r.m.s. deviation for C, N and O atoms = 0.097 for mol-ecule A and 0.107?Å for mol-ecule B).

The mol-ecules are linked via N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming infinite chains which run along the b-axis directions.
