Copper is an essential catalytic cofactor for enzymatic activities that drive a range of metabolic biochemistry including mitochondrial electron transport, iron mobilization, and peptide hormone maturation. Copper dysregulation is associated with fatal infantile disease, liver, and cardiac dysfunction, neuropathy, and anemia.
