Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(21)N(2)O(5)PS, the indole ring is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of -0.0083?(18)?Å. The methyl C atom of the methyl-phospho-nate group and the S atom lie 0.104?(2) and -0.2158?(6)?Å, respectively, from the indole mean plane. The sulfonyl-bound phenyl ring is almost perpendicular to the indole ring system, with a dihedral angle of 82.30?(8)°. The ethyl side chains are disordered over two sets of sites, with occupancy factors of 0.737?(5)/0.263?(5) and 0.529?(11)/0.471?(11). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers via C-H?O hydrogen bonds, resulting in an R(2) (2)(18) graph-set motif. The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:In the mononuclear complex mol-ecule of the title compond, [ZnCl(2)(C(18)H(18)N(2)O)(2)]·2C(18)H(18)N(2)O, the Zn atom, which lies on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by phenolate O atoms in a tetra-hedral coordination geometry. The coordinated Schiff base uses its indole NH donor site to form a hydrogen bond to the negatively charged phenolate O atom of the uncoordinated zwitterionic Schiff base. There is an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond in the coordinated and uncoordinated Schiff bases. The indole NH site of the uncoordinated Schiff base does not engage in a hydrogen-bond inter-action. The CH(2)-CH(2) group in the uncoordinated Schiff base is disordered equally over two positions.

The orientation of the acetamide group arises from intra-molecular hydrogen bonding between the indole N-H and carbonyl groups. In the crystal, inversion-related acetamide groups form N-H?O hydrogen-bonded dimers in graph-set R(2) (2)(8) motifs, whilst dimers are also formed by pairs of amine-nitrile N-H?N hydrogen bonds in R(2) (2)(12) motifs. These inter-actions together generate ribbons that propagate along the b-axis direction.

In the crystal, there are two water mol-ecules which serve as connectors between the acrylate mol-ecules and stabilize the structure via N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N, C-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.
