Project description:The title compound, [Dy(2)(C(3)H(2)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(6)](n), forms a coordination polymeric structure comprising hydrated dysprosium ions and malonate ligands. In the asymmetric unit, there are one dysprosium ion, one and a half malonate ligands, and three water mol-ecules. Each Dy(III) atom is coordinated by six O atoms from four malonate ligands and by three water mol-ecules, and displays a tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry. The malonate ligands adopt two types of coordination mode, linking dysprosium centres to form a three-dimensional coordination polymer. The extensive network of hydrogen bonds in this polymer enhances the structural stability.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, {[Sr(C2H5NO2)2(H2O)3]Br2} n , the Sr(2+) ion and one of the water mol-ecules are located on twofold rotation axes. The alkaline earth ion is nine-coordinated by three water O atoms and six O atoms of the carboxyl-ate groups of four glycine ligands, two in a chelating mode and two in a monodentate mode. The glycine mol-ecule exists in a zwitterionic form and bridges the cations into chains parallel to [001]. The Br(-) counter-anions are located between the chains. Inter-molecular hydrogen bonds are formed between the amino and carboxyl-ate groups of neighbouring glycine ligands, generating a head-to-tail sequence. Adjacent head-to-tail sequences are further inter-connected by inter-molecular N-H⋯Br hydrogen-bonding inter-actions into sheets parallel to (100). O-H⋯Br and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinating water mol-ecules are also present, consolidating the three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[Ce(C(3)H(2)O(4))Cl(H(2)O)(3)]·0.5H(2)O}(n), contains a Ce(3+) atom coordinated by a chloride anion, three water mol-ecules and a malonate ligand, and one water mol-ecule of crystallization with a factor of occupancy of 50%. The malonate ligand is bonded to three different symmetry-related metal atoms yielding a one-dimensional coordination polymer running parallel to the a axis. A supra-molecular network composed of strong and highly directional O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds ensures a close and effective packing of adjacent polymeric chains.

A new polymorph of catena-poly[[tri-aqua-cadmium(II)]-?(2)-pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ato].

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(3)](n), is a new monoclinic polymorph. The ortho-rhom-bic form has previously been reported [Ma et al. (2006 ?). Acta Cryst. E62, m2528-m2529]. The Cd-N and Cd-O bond lengths range from 2.265?(3) to 2.333?(3)?Å; a weak Cd-O inter-action is also present, the inter-atomic distance being 2.658?(4)?Å. The Cd(II) ions, which have a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry, are bridged by pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ato ligands, forming a zigzag chain structure. The chains are connected by O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional framework.

Project description:The reaction of lanthanum nitrate and 4-ethyl-benzoic acid (EBAH) in aqueous solution yielded the title polymer, [La(C(9)H(9)O(2))(3)(C(9)H(10)O(2))(H(2)O)](n). The asymmetric unit contains one La(III) atom, three 4-ethyl-benzoate (EBA) ligands, one neutral EBAH ligand and one coordinated water mol-ecule. Each La(III) ion is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from six bridging-bidentate EBA ligands, one O atom from a monodentate EBAH ligand and one water O atom in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The adjacent La(III) ions are linked by the carboxyl-ate groups of EBA ligands in a bridging-bidetate coordination mode, resulting in an infinite chain structure along the c axis. O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the water mol-ecules, carboxyl-ate groups and carboxyl H atoms are formed within the one-dimensional polymer. One of the ethyl groups is disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.717 (7) and 0.283 (7).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title one-dimensional polymeric compound, {[Co(C10H11O2)2(H2O)3]·2H2O} n , contains one CoII cation situated on a centre of inversion, one-half of a coordinating water mol-ecule, one 2,4,6-tri-methyl-benzoate (TMB) anion together with one coordinating and one non-coordinating water mol-ecule; the TMB anion acts as a monodentate ligand. In the anion, the carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached benzene ring by 84.9 (2)°. The CoII atom is coordinated by two TMB anions and two water mol-ecules in the basal plane, while another water mol-ecule bridges the CoII atoms in the axial directions, forming polymeric chains running along [001]. The coordination environment for the CoII cation is a slightly distorted octa-hedron. The coordinating and bridging water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups via intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing S(6) ring motifs, while the coordinating, bridging and non-coordinating water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups and the coordinating water mol-ecules link to the non-coordinating water mol-ecules via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing R22(8) and R33(8) ring motifs. Weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions may further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(2)H(3)O(3))Cl(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is five-coordinate in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. Two O atoms from a chelating glycolate anion, an O atom from a coordinated water mol-ecule and a chloride anion comprise the basal plane. A chloride ion from a neighbouring unit occupies the apical position and these Cu-Cl-Cu bridges link the aqua-glycolatocopper(II) units into one-dimensional chains along the [001] direction. These chains are connected by O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming an infinite three-dimensional polymeric network.

The K(I) atom is seven-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from four malonate ligands and by three water O atoms, forming a distorted polyhedron. The Co(II) atom is in an almost octa-hedral environment formed by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two malonate ligands and two water O atoms. Project description:In the title complex, [BaCd(C(3)H(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](n), the Ba(II) atoms, located on crystallographic twofold axes, adopt slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic coordination geometries, while the Cd(II) atoms, which lie on crystallographic centres of symmetry, have a distorted octa-hedral coordination. Each malonate dianion binds two different Cd(II) atoms and two different Ba(II) atoms. This connectivity generates alternating layers along [100] in the structure, with one type containing Cd(II) cations and malonate dianions, while the other is primarily composed of Ba(II) ions and coordinated water mol-ecules. The water mol-ecules also participate in extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.
