ABSTRACT: In this issue of Blood, Jitschin et al identify increased numbers of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in untreated patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) suppressing T cells and inducing regulatory T cells (T(regs)), resulting in impaired immune responses.
