Crystal structure of N,N'-bis-[(pyridin-4-yl)meth-yl]naphthalene di-imide.

ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric title compound, C26H16N4O4 {systematic name: 6,13-bis-[(pyridin-4-yl)meth-yl]-6,13-di-aza-tetra-cyclo-[6.6.2.0(4,16)0(11,15)]hexa-deca-1,3,8,10,15-pantaene-5,7,12,14-tetrone}, the central ring system is essentially planar [maximum deviation = 0.0234?(8)?Å] and approximately perpendicular to the terminal pyridine ring [dihedral angle = 84.38?(3)°]. The mol-ecules displays a trans conformation with the (pyridin-4-yl)methyl groups on both sides of the central naphthalene di-imide plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by ?-? stacking between parallel pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7014?(8) and 3.8553?(8)?Å] and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

The bis-[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]ammonium and ammonium cations both lie across a twofold rotation axis. The dihedral angles between the planes of the pyridine rings is 68.43 (8)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯N and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the components of the structure, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (010). In addition, weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds exist within the two-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of N,N'-bis-[3-(methyl-sulfan-yl)prop-yl]-1,8:4,5-naphthalene-tetra-carb-oxy-lic di-imide.

Project description:The title compound, C22H22N2O4S2, was synthesized by the reaction of 1,4,5,8-naphthalene-tetra-carb-oxy-lic dianhydride with 3-(methyl-sulfan-yl)propyl-amine. The whole mol-ecule is generated by an inversion operation of the asymmetric unit. This mol-ecule has an anti form with the terminal methyl-thio-propyl groups above and below the aromatic di-imide plane, where four intra-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds are present and the O⋯H⋯S angle is 100.8°. DFT calculations revealed slight differences between the solid state and gas phase structures. In the crystal, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains along the [2 direction. adjacent chains are inter-connected by π-π inter-actions, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to the (001) plane. Each two-dimensional layer is further packed in an ABAB sequence along the c-axis direction. Hirshfeld surface analysis shows that van der Waals inter-actions make important contributions to the inter-molecular contacts. The most important contacts found in the Hirshfeld surface analysis are H⋯H (44.2%), H⋯O/O⋯H (18.2%), H⋯C/C⋯H (14.4%), and H⋯S/S⋯H (10.2%).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C14H16N4O2 (2+)·2C9H5O6 (-), comprises half a dication, being located about a centre of inversion, and one anion, in a general position. The central C4N2O2 group of atoms in the dication are almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.009 Å), and the carbonyl groups lie in an anti disposition to enable the formation of intra-molecular amide-N-H⋯O(carbon-yl) hydrogen bonds. To a first approximation, the pyridinium and amide N atoms lie to the same side of the mol-ecule [Npy-C-C-Namide torsion angle = 34.8 (2)°], and the anti pyridinium rings are approximately perpendicular to the central part of the mol-ecule [dihedral angle = 68.21 (8)°]. In the anion, one carboxyl-ate group is almost coplanar with the ring to which it is connected [Cben-Cben-Cq-O torsion angle = 2.0 (3)°], whereas the other carboxyl-ate and carb-oxy-lic acid groups are twisted out of the plane [torsion angles = 16.4 (3) and 15.3 (3)°, respectively]. In the crystal, anions assemble into layers parallel to (10-4) via hy-droxy-O-H⋯O(carbon-yl) and charge-assisted hy-droxy-O-H⋯O(carboxyl-ate) hydrogen bonds. The dications are linked into supra-molecular tapes by amide-N-H⋯O(amide) hydrogen bonds, and thread through the voids in the anionic layers, being connected by charge-assisted pyridinium-N-O(carboxyl-ate) hydrogen bonds, so that a three-dimensional architecture ensues. An analysis of the Hirshfeld surface points to the importance of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the solvated title complex, [Ir(C11H8N)2(C15H14NO3)]·2CH2Cl2, consists of two complex mol-ecules together with four di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecules, one of which is disordered. In each complex mol-ecule, the IrIII ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by two 2-phenyl-pyridine ligands, through two phenyl C and two pyridine N atoms, and by one N,O-bidentate 2-[(2,4-di-meth-oxy-phenyl-imino)-meth-yl]phenolate anion. The IrIII ions lie almost in the equatorial planes with deviations of 0.0396 (17) and 0.0237 (17) Å, respectively, for the two complex mol-ecules. In both complex mol-ecules, the two 2-phenyl-pyridine ligands are nearly perpendicular to each other [dihedral angles between the least-squares-planes of 89.91 (11) and 85.13 (11)°]. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions as well as inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions are present, leading to a three-dimensional network structure. One of the four dichlormethane solvent mol-ecules shows disorder over two sets of sites [occupancy ratio 0.79 (2):0.21 (2)].

There is an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond involving the hy-droxy group and a pyridine N atom forming an S(9) ring motif. The dihedral angles between the planes of the quinolinol moiety and the pyridine rings are 44.15?(9) and 36.85?(9)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H?O hydrogen bonds forming inversion dimers with an R 4 (4)(10) ring motif. The dimers are linked by C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming ribbons along [01-1]. The ribbons are linked by C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions [inter-centroid distance = 3.7109?(11)?Å], forming layers parallel to (01-1).

A weak intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, N-H?N, C-H?O and C-H?F hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of dimers. The N-H?N inversion dimers are linked by ?-? contacts between adjacent pyridine rings [centroid-centroid = 3.8541?(12)?Å] and C-H?? inter-actions. These contacts combine to stack the mol-ecules along the a axis.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C30H50N4O4, the two bis-(hy-droxy-eth-yl)amino moieties and the 2,4-di-methyl-pyridinyl-amino unit of the mol-ecule are located on one side of the central benzene ring, while the ethyl substituents are oriented in the opposite direction. The dihedral angle between the planes of the aromatic rings is 73.6 (1)°. The conformation of the mol-ecule is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H⋯O (1.86-2.12 Å) and C-H⋯N (2.40, 2.54 Å) hydrogen bonds. Dimers of inversion-related mol-ecules represent the basic supra-molecular entities of the crystal structure. They are further connected via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding into undulating layers extending parallel to the crystallographic bc plane. Inter-layer inter-action is accomplished by weak C-H⋯π contacts.

Crystal structure of bis-{(3,5-di-methyl-pyrazol-1-yl)di-hydro-[3-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazol-1-yl]-borato}iron(II).

Project description:The structure determination of [Fe(C13H15BN5)2] was undertaken as part of a project on the modification of the recently published spin-crossover (SCO) complex [Fe{H2B(pz)(pypz)}2] (pz = pyrazole, pypz = pyridyl-pyrazole). To this end, a new ligand was synthesized in which two additional methyl groups are present. Its reaction with iron tri-fluoro-methane-sulfonate led to a pure sample of the title compound, as proven by X-ray powder diffraction. The asymmetric unit consists of one complex mol-ecule in a general position. The FeII atom is coordinated by two tridentate N-binding {H2B(3,5-(CH3)2-pz)(pypz)}- ligands. The Fe-N bond lengths range between 2.1222 (13) and 2.3255 (15) Å, compatible with FeII in the high-spin state, which was also confirmed by magnetic measurements. Other than a very weak C-H⋯N non-classical hydrogen bond linking individual mol-ecules into rows extending parallel to [010], there are no remarkable inter-molecular inter-actions.
