Crystal structure of N,N'-bis-[(pyridin-4-yl)meth-yl]naphthalene di-imide.

ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric title compound, C26H16N4O4 {systematic name: 6,13-bis-[(pyridin-4-yl)meth-yl]-6,13-di-aza-tetra-cyclo-[6.6.2.0(4,16)0(11,15)]hexa-deca-1,3,8,10,15-pantaene-5,7,12,14-tetrone}, the central ring system is essentially planar [maximum deviation = 0.0234?(8)?Å] and approximately perpendicular to the terminal pyridine ring [dihedral angle = 84.38?(3)°]. The mol-ecules displays a trans conformation with the (pyridin-4-yl)methyl groups on both sides of the central naphthalene di-imide plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by ?-? stacking between parallel pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7014?(8) and 3.8553?(8)?Å] and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

The bis-[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]ammonium and ammonium cations both lie across a twofold rotation axis. The dihedral angles between the planes of the pyridine rings is 68.43 (8)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯N and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the components of the structure, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (010). In addition, weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds exist within the two-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, C22H22N2O4S2, was synthesized by the reaction of 1,4,5,8-naphthalene-tetra-carb-oxy-lic dianhydride with 3-(methyl-sulfan-yl)propyl-amine. The whole mol-ecule is generated by an inversion operation of the asymmetric unit. This mol-ecule has an anti form with the terminal methyl-thio-propyl groups above and below the aromatic di-imide plane, where four intra-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds are present and the O⋯H⋯S angle is 100.8°. DFT calculations revealed slight differences between the solid state and gas phase structures. In the crystal, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains along the [2 direction. adjacent chains are inter-connected by π-π inter-actions, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to the (001) plane. Each two-dimensional layer is further packed in an ABAB sequence along the c-axis direction. Hirshfeld surface analysis shows that van der Waals inter-actions make important contributions to the inter-molecular contacts. The most important contacts found in the Hirshfeld surface analysis are H⋯H (44.2%), H⋯O/O⋯H (18.2%), H⋯C/C⋯H (14.4%), and H⋯S/S⋯H (10.2%).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C14H16N4O2 (2+)·2C9H5O6 (-), comprises half a dication, being located about a centre of inversion, and one anion, in a general position. The central C4N2O2 group of atoms in the dication are almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.009 Å), and the carbonyl groups lie in an anti disposition to enable the formation of intra-molecular amide-N-H⋯O(carbon-yl) hydrogen bonds. To a first approximation, the pyridinium and amide N atoms lie to the same side of the mol-ecule [Npy-C-C-Namide torsion angle = 34.8 (2)°], and the anti pyridinium rings are approximately perpendicular to the central part of the mol-ecule [dihedral angle = 68.21 (8)°]. In the anion, one carboxyl-ate group is almost coplanar with the ring to which it is connected [Cben-Cben-Cq-O torsion angle = 2.0 (3)°], whereas the other carboxyl-ate and carb-oxy-lic acid groups are twisted out of the plane [torsion angles = 16.4 (3) and 15.3 (3)°, respectively]. In the crystal, anions assemble into layers parallel to (10-4) via hy-droxy-O-H⋯O(carbon-yl) and charge-assisted hy-droxy-O-H⋯O(carboxyl-ate) hydrogen bonds. The dications are linked into supra-molecular tapes by amide-N-H⋯O(amide) hydrogen bonds, and thread through the voids in the anionic layers, being connected by charge-assisted pyridinium-N-O(carboxyl-ate) hydrogen bonds, so that a three-dimensional architecture ensues. An analysis of the Hirshfeld surface points to the importance of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the solvated title complex, [Ir(C11H8N)2(C15H14NO3)]·2CH2Cl2, consists of two complex mol-ecules together with four di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecules, one of which is disordered. In each complex mol-ecule, the IrIII ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by two 2-phenyl-pyridine ligands, through two phenyl C and two pyridine N atoms, and by one N,O-bidentate 2-[(2,4-di-meth-oxy-phenyl-imino)-meth-yl]phenolate anion. The IrIII ions lie almost in the equatorial planes with deviations of 0.0396 (17) and 0.0237 (17) Å, respectively, for the two complex mol-ecules. In both complex mol-ecules, the two 2-phenyl-pyridine ligands are nearly perpendicular to each other [dihedral angles between the least-squares-planes of 89.91 (11) and 85.13 (11)°]. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions as well as inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions are present, leading to a three-dimensional network structure. One of the four dichlormethane solvent mol-ecules shows disorder over two sets of sites [occupancy ratio 0.79 (2):0.21 (2)].

Project description:In the polymeric title compound, [Co(C2O4)(C14H14N4O2)] n , the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated by two N atoms from symmetry-related bis-[(pyridin-4-yl)meth-yl]oxalamide (BPMO) ligands and four O atoms from two centrosymmetric oxalate anions in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The Co(II) atoms are linked by the oxalate anions into a chain running parallel to [100]. The chains are linked by the BPMO ligands into a three-dimensional architecture. In addition, N-H?O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal packing.

There is an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond involving the hy-droxy group and a pyridine N atom forming an S(9) ring motif. The dihedral angles between the planes of the quinolinol moiety and the pyridine rings are 44.15?(9) and 36.85?(9)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H?O hydrogen bonds forming inversion dimers with an R 4 (4)(10) ring motif. The dimers are linked by C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming ribbons along [01-1]. Project description:In the title compound [Fe(bpe)(Hbpe)Au(CN)2][Au(CN)2]2·bpe·2H2O} n [where bpe = 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene, C12H10N2], the FeII ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral [FeN4O2] environment by two di-cyano-aurate anions, two water mol-ecules and two partially protonated 1,2-di(4-pyrid-yl)ethyl-ene mol-ecules. Di-cyano-aurate anions bridge the FeII cations, forming infinite chains, which propagate along the a-axis direction. The chains are connected via aurophilic inter-actions with two non-coordinated di-cyano-aurate anions for each FeII ion. The polymeric chains inter-act with each other via ?-? stacking between the guest bpe mol-ecules and multiple hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The five-coordinate Cu(II) atom in the title complex [CuCl2(C16H19N3)]·0.5C4H10O, adopts a near-ideal square-pyramidal geometry (?-5 = 0.01). The apical Cu-Cl distance is 0.2626?(6)?Å longer than the basal Cu-Cl distance. Weak C-H?Cl interactions between pyridine rings and the Cl atoms of adjacent complex molecules are present. The solvent molecule, located on a twofold rotation axis, is situated in the voids of this arrangement. Copper atoms coordinated by tridentate nitro-gen-containing ligands have been found to be excellent promoters of Atom Transfer Radical Addition (ATRA) reactions.

The mol-ecule is not planar, with dihedral angles between the central benzene ring and the outer benzene and pyridyl rings of 73.35?(7) and 81.26?(6)°, respectively. A weak intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, N-H?N, C-H?O and C-H?F hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of dimers. The N-H?N inversion dimers are linked by ?-? contacts between adjacent pyridine rings [centroid-centroid = 3.8541?(12)?Å] and C-H?? inter-actions. These contacts combine to stack the mol-ecules along the a axis.
