ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C26H16ClN3, the dihedral angles between the central pyridine ring and the pendant phenyl, chloro-benzene and indole rings are 18.52?(12), 48.97?(11) and 21.20?(10)°, respectively. An intra-molecular C-H?Nc (c = cyanide) hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N-H?Nc hydrogen bonds generate R 2 (2)(16) loops.

The approximate coplanarity of the central ring and the indole ring system is supported by two intra-molecular C-H⋯N inter-actions. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds generate R 2 (2)(16) loops and the dimers are linked by C-H⋯π and aromatic π-π stacking [shortest centroid-centroid separation = 3.729 (3) Å] into a three-dimensional network.

The N atom of the carbo-nitrile group is significantly displaced [0.288?(2)?Å] from the plane of the pyridine ring, perhaps due to steric crowding. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N-H?Nn (n = nitrile) hydrogen bonds generate R 2 (2)(16) loops. Project description:In the title compound, C26H16N6O, the dihedral angles between the central pyrrole ring and the pendant indole ring system (r.m.s. deviation = 0.027?Å) and the azide-bearing benzene ring are 37.56?(8) and 51.62?(11)°, respectively. The azide group is almost coplanar with its attached benzene ring [C-C-N-N = 3.8?(3)°]. The benzoyl benzene ring is disordered over two orientations twisted with respect to each other by 9.29?(8)° in a 0.514?(2):0.486?(2) ratio. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of Np-H?O (p = pyrrole) hydrogen bonds generate R 2 (2)(10) loops. A second inversion dimer arises from a pair of Ni-H?Nc (i = indole and c = cyanide) hydrogen bonds, which generates an R 2 (2)(16) loop. Together, the hydrogen bonds lead to [011] chains in the crystal.

Project description:In the title compound, C(29)H(18)ClN(5)·C(2)H(6)O, the dihydro-pyridine ring adopts a strongly flattened envelope conformation, with a maximum deviation of 0.139?(2)?Å from its best plane for the Csp(3) atom. The dihedral angles between the dihydro-pyridine ring plane and the two indole rings in positions 2 and 6 are 34.28?(5) and 40.50?(6)°, respectively. In turn, the benzene ring and the dihydro-pyridine ring are oriented at a dihedral angle of 74.69?(6)°. An intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H?N, N-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to (001). There are short C-H?Cl contacts between mol-ecules in neighboring layers.

Project description:In the title compound, C20H13ClN2O, the chloro-benzene ring is almost perpendicular to the mean plane of the naphthalene ring system, making a dihedral angle of 81.26 (8)°. The 4H-pyran ring fused with the naphthalene ring system has a flattened boat conformation. In the crystal, N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds generate chains along the b-axis direction. Further N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link these chains into sheets parallel to (010). The crystal packing also features C-H⋯π inter-actions. The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.557 (16):0.443 (16) domain ratio.

The planes of the phenyl and benzene rings are inclined to that of the central pyridine ring [r.m.s. deviations = 0.0083 (1) and 0.0093 (1) Å for (I) and (II), respectively] by 62.47 (17) and 72.51 (14)°, respectively, in (I), and by 71.44 (9) and 54.90 (8)°, respectively, in (II). The planes of the aromatic rings are inclined to one another by 53.82 (17)° in (I) and by 58.04 (9)° in (II). In the crystals of both (I) and (II), pairs of N-H⋯Nnitrile hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming inversion dimers with R 2 (2)(12) ring motifs. In (I), the resulting dimers are connected through C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, forming sheets parallel to (10-1), and π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distance = 3.7821 (16) Å] involving inversion-related pyridine rings, forming a three-dimensional network. In (II), the resulting dimers are connected through π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distance = 3.771 (2) Å] involving inversion-related pyridine rings, forming a two-dimensional network lying parallel to (001).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(21)H(15)NO(3)S, contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules. As a result of the electron-withdrawing character of the phenyl-sulfonyl groups, the N-Csp(2) bond lengths are slightly longer than the anti-cipated value of approximately 1.35 Å for N atoms with planar configurations. Both unique S atoms have a distorted tetra-hedral configuration. In each mol-ecule, the indole ring system is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviations for all non-H atoms of 0.020 and 0.023 Å). In one mol-ecule, the indole ring system makes dihedral angles of 65.7 (8) and 73.4 (8)°, respectively, with the benzene and phenyl rings [62.2 (7) and 72.1 (7)°, respectively, in the other mol-ecule].
