Crystal structure of bis-(2-{[(pyridin-2-yl)methyl-idene]amino}-benzoato-?(3) N,N',O)cobalt(II) N,N-di-methyl-formamide sesquisolvate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Co(C13H9N2O2)2]·1.5C3H7NO, is formed as a neutral Co(II) complex with di-methyl-formamide (DMF) solvent mol-ecules. The Co(II) atom has a distorted O2N4 octa-hedral coordination sphere defined by two tridentate anionic Schiff base ligands with the O atoms being cis. The coordination sphere around the Co(II) atom is geometrically different from that reported for the co-crystal [Co(C13H9N2O2)2]·AA·H2O (AA is anthranilic acid). One of the DMF solvent mol-ecules was modelled as being disordered about a crystallographic inversion centre with half-occupancy. The crystal structure is made up from alternating layers of complex mol-ecules and DMF mol-ecules parallel to (010). C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the complex mol-ecules and the solvent mol-ecules consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(7)H(5)O(3))(C(27)H(27)N(7))]ClO(4)·1.5C(3)H(7)NO, the Co(II) ion is five-coordinated by four N atoms from a tris-(N-methyl-benzimidazol-2-ylmeth-yl)amine (Mentb) ligand and one O atom from a salicylate ligand in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry with approximate mol-ecular C(3) symmetry. The perchlorate ion is disordered over two sites with equal occupancy. One dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule lies on a general position and is disordered over two coplanar orientations with equal occupancy. A second dimethyl-formamide mol-ecule is disordered about a twofold rotation axis. There is an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond in the cation.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C3H7NO)(H2O)5]SO4·C3H7NO, contains five aqua ligands, a Co(II) atom, a sulfate ion and both a coordinating and a non-coordinating di-methyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecule. The DMF solvent mol-ecule lies between the complex units, which are located along the b axis. The sulfate ion is for charge balance. The Co(II) atom has distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, being ligated by five aqua ligands and the O atom of the DMF ligand. O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the aqua ligands and the sulfate anion and non-coordinating DMF molecule lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network. Since all constituents lie on a mirror plane, the H atoms of all methyl groups and of one of the aqua ligands are equally disordered over two positions.

Project description:The centrosymmetric mol-ecule in the monomeric title cobalt complex, [Co(C10H11O2)2(C10H14N2O)2(H2O)2], contains two water mol-ecules, two 2,4,6-tri-methyl-benzoate (TMB) ligands and two di-ethyl-nicotinamide (DENA) ligands. All ligands coordinate to the Co(II) atom in a monodentate fashion. The four O atoms around the Co(II) atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, with the distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere completed by two pyridine N atoms of the DENA ligands. The dihedral angle between the planar carboxyl-ate group and the adjacent benzene ring is 84.2?(4)°, while the benzene and pyridine rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 38.87?(10)°. The water mol-ecules exhibit both intra-molecular (to the non-coordinating carboxyl-ate O atom) and inter-molecular (to the amide carbonyl O atom) O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The latter lead to the formation of layers parallel to (100), enclosing R 4 (4)(32) ring motifs. These layers are further linked via weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional network. One of the two ethyl groups of the DENA ligand is disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.490?(13):0.510?(13).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title one-dimensional polymeric compound, {[Co(C10H11O2)2(H2O)3]·2H2O} n , contains one CoII cation situated on a centre of inversion, one-half of a coordinating water mol-ecule, one 2,4,6-tri-methyl-benzoate (TMB) anion together with one coordinating and one non-coordinating water mol-ecule; the TMB anion acts as a monodentate ligand. In the anion, the carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached benzene ring by 84.9 (2)°. The CoII atom is coordinated by two TMB anions and two water mol-ecules in the basal plane, while another water mol-ecule bridges the CoII atoms in the axial directions, forming polymeric chains running along [001]. The coordination environment for the CoII cation is a slightly distorted octa-hedron. The coordinating and bridging water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups via intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing S(6) ring motifs, while the coordinating, bridging and non-coordinating water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups and the coordinating water mol-ecules link to the non-coordinating water mol-ecules via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing R22(8) and R33(8) ring motifs. Weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions may further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C8H4NO2)2(C6H6N2O)2(H2O)2], the Co(II) atom is located on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two 4-cyano-benzoate (CNB) anions, two nicotinamide (NA) ligands and two water mol-ecules. The four O atoms in the equatorial plane form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, while the slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere is completed by the two N atoms of the NA ligands in the axial positions. Project description:A tetra-nuclear ZnII complex, [Zn4(C13H11N6O)2Cl6(H2O)2] or {[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl2)](?Cl)2[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl)]}2, was synthesized by mixing an equimolar amount of a methanol solution containing ZnCl2 and a methanol solution containing the ligand H2 L [1,5-bis-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-ene)carbono-hydrazide]. In the tetra-nuclear complex, each of the two ligand mol-ecules forms a dinuclear unit that is connected to another dinuclear unit by two bridging chloride anions. In each dinuclear unit, one ZnII cation is penta-coordinated in a N2OCl2 in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, while the other ZnII cation is hexa-coordinated in a N3OCl2 environment with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The basal plane around the penta-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one oxygen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical position occupied by a chloride anion. The basal plane of the hexa-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one hydrazinyl nitro-gen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical positions occupied by a water oxygen atom and a bridged chloro anion from another dinuclear unit, leading to a tetra-nuclear complex. A series of intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds is observed in each tetra-nuclear unit. In the crystal, the tetra-nuclear units are connected by inter-molecular C-H?Cl, C-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a planar two-dimensional structure in the ac plane.

Project description:The title salt, (C2H8N)2[Co(H2O)6)](SO4)2·2H2O, is isotypic with (C2H8N)2[Ni(H2O)6)](SO4)2·2H2O. The Co-O bond lengths in the [Co(H2O)6](2+) complex cation show very similar distances as in the related Tutton salt (NH4)2[Co(H2O)6)](SO4)2 [average 2.093?(17)?Å], but are significantly longer than in the isotypic Ni(II) compound (?d ? 0.04?Å). The cobalt cation reaches an overall bond-valence sum of 1.97 valence units. The S-O distances are nearly equal, ranging from 1.454?(4) to 1.470?(3)?Å [mean 1.465?(12)?Å]; however, the O-S-O angles vary clearly from 108.1?(2) to 110.2?(2)° [average bond angle 109.5?(9)°]. The non-coordinating water mol-ecules and di-methyl-ammonium cations connect the sulfate tetrahedra and the [Co(H2O)6](2+) octa-hedron via O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds of weak up to medium strength into a three-dimensional framework whereby the complex metal cations and sulfate anions are arranged in sheets parallel to (001).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the mononuclear cobalt complex, [Co(C11H13O2)2(C6H6N2O)2(H2O)2]·2H2O, contains one half of the complex mol-ecule, one coordinating and one non-coordinating water mol-ecule, one 4-tert-butyl-benzoate (TBB) ligand and one nicotinamide (NA) ligand; the Co atom lies on an inversion centre. All ligands coordinating to the Co atom are monodentate. The four nearest O atoms around the Co atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, with the distorted octa-hedral coordination completed by the two pyridine N atoms of the NA ligands at distances of 2.1638 (11) Å. The coordinating water mol-ecules are hydrogen bonded to the carboxyl O atoms [O ⋯ O = 2.6230 (17) Å], enclosing an S(6) hydrogen-bonding motif, while inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link two of the non-coordinating water mol-ecules to the coordinating water mol-ecules and NA anions. The dihedral angle between the planar carboxyl-ate group and the adjacent benzene ring is 29.09 (10)°, while the benzene and pyridine rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 88.53 (4)°. In the crystal, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, enclosing R 2 (2)(8), R 2 (2)(10) and R 4 (4)(12) ring motifs, forming layers parallel to (001). The C and H atoms of the tert-butyl group of the TBB ligand are disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.631 (5):0.369 (5).
