Crystal structure of tin(II) perchlorate trihydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Sn(H2O)3](ClO4)2, was synthesized by the redox reaction of copper(II) perchlorate hexa-hydrate and metallic tin in perchloric acid. Both the trigonal-pyramidal [Sn(H2O)3](2+) cations and tetra-hedral perchlorate anions lie on crystallographic threefold axes. In the crystal, the cations are linked to the anions by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating (001) sheets.

Project description:The title mol-ecular salt, C15H21N2O(+)·ClO4 (-), crystallizes with four cations (A, B, C and D) and four anions in the chiral unit cell (space group P21). The alkaloid was isolated from the aerial parts of Genista Hispanica collected in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan. Each cation is protonated at the N atom that bridges the alkaloid rings C and D. In each cation, ring A is almost planar and ring B adops a sofa conformation with the methyl-ene group bridging to the C ring as the flap. Rings C and D adopt chair conformations with a cis ring junction in all four cations. In the crystal, A+B and C+D dimeric pairs linked by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed, which generate R 2 (2)(16) loops in each case. The dimers are consolidated by weak aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions between the A rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.913?(3) and 3.915?(3)?Å].

Crystal structure and characterization of pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium trihydrate.

Project description:UNLABELLED: BACKGROUND:Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ), a tricarboxylic acid, has attracted attention as a growth factor, and its application to supplements and cosmetics is underway. The product used for these purposes is a water-soluble salt of PQQ disodium. Although in the past, PQQ disodiumpentahydrates with a high water concentration were used, currently, low hydration crystals of PQQ disodiumpentahydrates are preferred. RESULTS:We prepared a crystal of PQQ disodium trihydrate in a solution of ethanol and water, studied its structure, and analyzed its properties. In the prepared crystal, the sodium atom interacted with the oxygen atom of two carboxylic acids as well as two quinones of the PQQ disodium trihydrate. In addition, the hydration water of the prepared crystal was less than that of the conventional PQQ disodium crystal. From the results of this study, it was found that the color and the near-infrared (NIR) spectrum of the prepared crystal changed depending on the water content in the dried samples. CONCLUSIONS:The water content in the dried samples was restored to that in the trihydrate crystal by placing the samples in a humid environment. In addition, the results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray diffraction-differential calorimetry (XRD-DSC) analyses show that the phase of the trihydrate crystal changed when the crystallization water was eliminated. The dried crystal has two crystalline forms that are restored to the original trihydrate crystals in 20% relative humidity (RH). This crystalline (PQQ disodium trihydrate) is stable under normal environment.

Project description:Since the discovery of perchlorate salts on Mars and the known occurrence of ferric salts in the regolith, there is a distinct possibility that the title compound could form on the surface of Mars. [Fe(H2O)6](ClO4)3·3H2O was crystallized from aqueous solutions at low temperatures according to the solid-liquid phase diagram. It consists of Fe(H2O)6 octa-hedra (point group symmetry -3.) and perchlorate anions (point group symmetry .2) as well as non-coordinating water mol-ecules, as part of a second hydrogen-bonded coordination sphere around the cation. The perchlorate appears to be slightly disordered, with major-minor component occupancies of 0.773?(9):0.227?(9).

Project description:The mol-ecular and crystal structure of the l-proline-derived di-thio-carbamate-carboxyl-ate compound poly[tri-?-aqua-(?-2-carboxyl-atopyrrolidine-1-carbodi-thio-ato)dipotassium], [K2(C6H7NO2S2)(H2O)3] n or K2(SSC-NC4H7-COO)·3H2O, has been determined. The di-thio-carbamate moiety displays a unique coordination mode, comprising a 'side-on' ?-coordinated K+ cation besides a commonly ?-chelated K+ cation. By bridging coordination of the CSS group, COO group and water mol-ecules, the K+ cations are linked into a two-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to the ab plane. These layers are again inter-connected by O-H?S hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The centrosymmetric binuclear complex, [Cu2(C2H2N2O4)(C10H8N2)2(C2H6OS)2](ClO4)2, contains two copper(II) ions, connected through an N-deprotonated oxalodi-hydroxamic acid dianion, two terminal 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands, and two apically coordinating dimethylsulfoxide mol-ecules. Two non-coordinating perchlorate anions assure electrical neutrality. The copper(II) ions in the complex dication [Cu2(C10H8N2)2(μ-C2H2N2O4)(C2H6SO)2](2+) are in an O2N3 square-pyramidal donor environment, the Cu-Cu separation being 5.2949 (4) Å. Two hydroxamate groups in the deprotonated oxalodi-hydroxamic acid are located trans to one each other. In the crystal, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the complex cations to the perchlorate anions. Further C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds combine with π-π contacts with a centroid-to-centroid separation of 3.6371 (12) Å to stack the mol-ecules along the a-axis direction.

Project description:The redetermination of the structure of the title compound, [Fe(C15H12N4)2](ClO4)2, (I), confirms the structure previously reported [Kucharski et al. (1978a ?). Aust. J. Chem. 31, 53-56], but models the perchlorate over four sets of atomic sites, rather than using just one set of sites as in the original report. The supra-molecular assembly, not reported previously, takes the form of a complex three-dimensional framework built from C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The isotypic nickel(II) analogue, [Ni(C15H12N4)2](ClO4)2, (III), has been refined using the original data set [Wang et al. (2011 ?). Acta Cryst. E67, m78], again using a four-component disorder model for the anion, rather than a two-component model as in the original report, leading to more satisfactory Cl-O distances and O-Cl-O angles.
