Crystal structures of di-iodido-bis-[(1S,5S)-4-mesityl-1,2,8,8-tetra-methyl-2,4-di-aza-bicyclo-[3.2.1]octan-3-yl-idene-κC (3)]palladium(IV) and di-chlorido-[(1S,5S)-4-mesityl-1,2,8,8-tetra-methyl-2,4-di-aza-bicyclo[3.2.1]octan-3-yl-idene-κC (3)](tri-phenyl-phosphane-κP)palladium(IV).

ABSTRACT: The mol-ecular structures of the chiral title compounds, [Pd(C19H28N2)2I2], (I), and [Pd(C19H28N2)Cl2(C18H15P)], (II), show a distorted square-planar coordination around the Pd(II) atoms with two halogenide (Hal) ligands each and two N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands in (I) or one NHC and one tri-phenyl-phosphane ligand in (II). The deviations of the Pd(II) atoms from the L 2Hal2 best plane (L = NHC or tri-phenyl-phosphane ligand) are 0.206 (1) Å for (I) and 0.052 (1) Å for (II). The crystal packings exhibit inter-molecular C-H⋯Hal hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, C(13)H(13)FN(2)O(3), the fused piperidine ring is in a chair conformation. The fused pyrrolidine ring shows an envelope conformation with the N atom displaced by 0.661 (3) Å out of the plane formed by the four C atoms of the pyrrolidine ring. The dihedral angle between this plane and the plane formed by the four attached C atoms of the piperidine ring (not including the carbonyl C atom) is 67.63 (10)°. The F atom is disordered and was refined using a split model with an occupancy ratio of 0.910 (3): 0.080 (3).

Project description:The crystal structure of the hydrated title salt, 2C6H13N2 (+)·S2O3 (2-)·2H2O, contains a centrosymmetric cyclic motif of eight hydrogen-bonded mol-ecular subunits. Two DABCOH(+) cations (DABCO = 1,4-di-aza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octa-ne) are linked to two water mol-ecules and two thio-sulfate anions via O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, respectively. Two other water mol-ecules close the cyclic motif through O-H⋯O contacts to the first two water mol-ecules and to the two thio-sulfate anions. A second pair of DABCOH(+) cations is N-H⋯O hydrogen bonded to the two anions and is pendant to the ring. Adjacent cyclic motifs are bridged into a block-like arrangement extending along [100] through O-H⋯O inter-actions involving the second pair of water mol-ecules and neighbouring thio-sulfate anions.

Project description:The 1:1 co-crystallization of 1,4-di-aza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) with 4-nitro-benzoic acid in ethanol-water (3/1) gave the salt dihydrate C6H13N2 (+)·C7H4NO4 (-)·2H2O, (1), whereas from methanol, the salt C6H14N2 (2+)·2C7H4NO4 (-), (2), was isolated. In (1), the cation and anion are linked by a strong N-H?O hydrogen bond, and the carboxyl-ate anion is close to planar [dihedral angle between terminal residues = 6.83?(9)°]. In (2), a three-ion aggregate is assembled by two N-H?O hydrogen bonds, and the carboxyl-ate anions are again close to planar [dihedral angles between terminal residues = 1.7?(3) and 5.9?(3)°]. Through the inter-vention of solvent water mol-ecules, which self-assemble into helical supra-molecular chains along the b axis, the three-dimensional architecture in (1) is stabilized by water-DABCO O-H?N and water-carboxyl-ate O-H?O hydrogen bonds, with additional stability afforded by C-H?O inter-actions. The global crystal structure comprises alternating layers of water mol-ecules and ion pairs stacked along the c axis. In the crystal of (2), the three-ion aggregates are assembled into a three-dimensional architecture by a large number of methyl-ene-carboxyl-ate/nitro C-H?O inter-actions as well as ?-? contacts between inversion-related benzene rings [inter-centroid distances = 3.5644?(16) and 3.6527?(16)?Å]. The cations and anions assemble into alternating layers along the c axis.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(11)H(12)N(2)O(4), consists of a 3-aza-bicyclo-[3.2.0]heptane group containing a nearly planar cyclo-butane ring (r.m.s. deviation of fitted atoms is 0.0609?Å), fused to a pyrrolidine ring, bonded to a 2,6-dioxopiperidine ring at the 3-position. The angle between the mean planes of the cyclo-butane and fused pyrrolidine ring is 67.6?(6)°. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the pyrrolidine and cyclo-butane rings and the dioxopiperidine ring are 73.9?(2) and 62.4?(4)°, respectively. The pyrrolidine and dioxopiperidine rings are twisted about the 3-yl group [torsion angles = -55.0?(1) and 115.0?(1)°] in a nearly perpendicular manner. Crystal packing is influenced by extensive inter-molecular C-H?O and N-H?O inter-actions between all four carbonyl O atoms and H atoms from the cyclo-butane and dioxopiperidine rings, as well as between the N atom and an H atom from the cyclo-butane ring. In addition, weak ?-ring interactions also occur between H atoms from the cyclobutane ring and the five-membered pyrrolidine ring. As a result, mol-ecules are linked into infinite chains diagonally along the [101] plane of the unit cell in an alternate inverted pattern.
