Crystal structure of aqua-bis-(hepta-fluoro-butano-ato-?O)(1,10'-phenanthroline-?(2) N,N')copper(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(C4F7O2)2(C12H8N2)(H2O)], is mononuclear and contains a penta-coordinated Cu(II) ion. The geometry of Cu(II) ion can be described as distorted square-pyramidal with two O atoms of two butano-ate anions and two N atoms of the o-phenanthroline ligand occupying the basal plane, and a water O atom located at the axial position. In the crystal, C-H?(O,F) and O-H?(O,F) hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distance 3.533?(2)?Å] link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(7)H(4)FO(2))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the coordination around the Cu(II) atom is square-pyramidal. The equatorial positions are occupied by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand [Cu-N = 2.008?(3) and 2.019?(3)?Å] and two O atoms from 3-fluoro-benzoate ligands and a water mol-ecule [Cu-O = 1.950?(2) and 1.978?(2)?Å]. Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(2)HCl(2)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Cu(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The equatorial positions are occupied by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand [Cu-N = 1.994 (3) and 2.027 (3) Å] and two O atoms from dichloro-acetate ligands and a water mol-ecule [Cu-O = 1.971 (2) and 1.939 (2) Å]. One O atom from another dichloro-acetate ligand occupies the apical positon [Cu-O = 2.152 (3) Å]. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers. The crystal packing also exhibits weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.734 (2) Å] and short inter-molecular Cl⋯Cl contacts [3.306 (2) and 3.278 (2) Å].

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(3)(C(5)HN(2)O(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, is a trinuclear copper(II) complex in which two centrosymmetrically related pyrazole-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate(3-) and 1,10-phenanthroline ligands bind three Cu(II) atoms, with one Cu(II) atom located on a center of symmetry. In each complex, there are four coordinated water mol-ecules and two solvent water mol-ecules, which participate in extensive hydrogen-bond patterns. These inter-actions, as well as ?-? inter-actions between neighbouring 1,10-phenanthroline ligands [shortest atom-to-atom distance = 3.363?(3)?Å], extend the crystal structure into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title complex, [Cu(2)(C(5)H(6)O(4))(2)(C(12)H(18)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) atom displays a dis-torted square-pyramidal coordination environment with the basal plane occupied by two phenanthroline N atoms and two O atoms from different glutarate dianions while a water mol-ecule is located at the apical position. Of the two water H atoms, one is engaged in an intra-molecular hydrogen bond with a free oxygen of the dianion whereas the second is engaged in an inter-molecular hydrogen bond, building a corrugated layer parallel to (100). These layers are further connected through π-π stacking inter-actions involving symmetry-related phenanthroline rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5599 (17) and 3.5617 (18) Å], building a three dimensionnal network. C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the phenanthroline ring system are also observed.

The dication possesses pseudo-twofold rotational symmetry. The penta-coordination of each Cu(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with two N donors from a phenanthroline ligand and two carboxyl-ate O atoms occupying basal sites and the apical position being occupied by a water mol-ecule. In the crystal packing, mol-ecules are linked to form a three-dimensional framework by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances of 3.6039 (15), 3.5301 (15), 3.6015 (15), 3.6496 (15) and 3.6858 (15) Å].

A new polymorph of aqua-bis-(1,10-phenanthroline-?(2) N,N')copper(II) dinitrate.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, [Cu(C12H8N2)2(H2O)](NO3)2, is a new polymorph of a compound which up to now has been reported to crystallize space groups in C2/c and Cc. The crystal studied was twinned by non-merohedry (final BASF factor of 0.40043) with the structure being solved and refined in P-1. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and an O atom from a water mol-ecule in an approximate trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. Discrete entities of one cation and two nitrate anions are formed by water-nitrate O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The components are further assembled into a three-dimensional network by C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu2(OH)2{C12H7N2(PO3C2H5)}2(H2O)2]·7H2O, two Cu2+ cations are bridged by two hydroxide groups, forming a centrosymmetric binuclear complex. Each Cu2+cation is further coordinated by the N atoms of a bidentate ethyl (1,10-phenanthrolin-3-yl)phospho-nate anion and a water mol-ecule in a square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal, a network of O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the P(O)(O-)(OEt) groups, bridging hydroxyl groups, coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules generates a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. The ethyl group exhibits disorder and was modelled over three sites with occupancies of 0.455, 0.384 and 0.161.

In the crystal, a three-dimensional supra-molecular network is formed through weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S inter-actions and π-stacking between the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and the aromatic rings of symmetry-related 4-(methyl-sulfan-yl)benzoate ligands.
