ABSTRACT: The incorporation of a rhenium atom within an extended helical ?-conjugated bi-pyridine system impacts the chiroptical and photophysical properties of the resulting neutral or cationic complexes, leading to the first examples of rhenium-based phosphors that exhibit circularly polarized luminescence.
