BanglaLekha-Isolated: A multi-purpose comprehensive dataset of Handwritten Bangla Isolated characters.

ABSTRACT: BanglaLekha-Isolated, a Bangla handwritten isolated character dataset is presented in this article. This dataset contains 84 different characters comprising of 50 Bangla basic characters, 10 Bangla numerals and 24 selected compound characters. 2000 handwriting samples for each of the 84 characters were collected, digitized and pre-processed. After discarding mistakes and scribbles, 1,66,105 handwritten character images were included in the final dataset. The dataset also includes labels indicating the age and the gender of the subjects from whom the samples were collected. This dataset could be used not only for optical handwriting recognition research but also to explore the influence of gender and age on handwriting. Project description:This article presents a Bangla handwriting dataset named BanglaWriting that contains single-page handwritings of 260 individuals of different personalities and ages. Each page includes bounding-boxes that bounds each word, along with the unicode representation of the writing. This dataset contains 21,234 words and 32,787 characters in total. Moreover, this dataset includes 5,470 unique words of Bangla vocabulary. Apart from the usual words, the dataset comprises 261 comprehensible overwriting and 450 handwritten strikes and mistakes. All of the bounding-boxes and word labels are manually-generated. The dataset can be used for complex optical character/word recognition, writer identification, handwritten word segmentation, and word generation. Furthermore, this dataset is suitable for extracting age-based and gender-based variation of handwriting.

An extensive dataset of handwritten central Kurdish isolated characters

Project description:To collect the handwritten format of separate Kurdish characters, each character has been printed on a grid of 14 × 9 of A4 paper. Each paper is filled with only one printed character so that the volunteers know what character should be written in each paper. Then each paper has been scanned, spliced, and cropped with a macro in photoshop to make sure the same process is applied for all characters. The grids of the characters have been filled mainly by volunteers of students from multiple universities in Erbil.

A multi-purpose dataset of Devanagari script comprising of isolated numerals and vowels

Project description:This article presents handwritten isolated characters of the Devanagari script. Devanagari script contains ten numerals, 13 vowels, and 33 consonants. Devanagari Character dataset includes 23 different characters of numerals and vowels. 2400 handwritten samples are collected for each of the numerals and 1400 for each vowel. Collected samples are digitized and pre-processed. During pre-processing, images with noise are removed. In this context, a final dataset of 38,750 images were included, where 2,250 and 1,250 samples for each numeral and vowel, respectively. The data is available in images and comma-separated-values, along with attached labels. The dataset could be used for Optical Character Recognition research and deep learning. In India, the Devanagari script is the base script on which 120+ languages are evolved; hence this dataset serves as the base for Machine Learning research in these languages. Project description:Due to the technological advances in recent years, paper scientific documents are used less and less. Thus, the trend in the scientific community to use digital documents has increased considerably. Among these documents, there are scientific documents and more specifically mathematics documents. In this context, we present our own dataset of handwritten mathematical symbols composed of 10,379 images. This dataset gathers Arabic characters, Latin characters, Arabic numerals, Latin numerals, arithmetic operators, set-symbols, comparison symbols, delimiters, etc.

MoVi: A large multi-purpose human motion and video dataset.

Project description:Large high-quality datasets of human body shape and kinematics lay the foundation for modelling and simulation approaches in computer vision, computer graphics, and biomechanics. Creating datasets that combine naturalistic recordings with high-accuracy data about ground truth body shape and pose is challenging because different motion recording systems are either optimized for one or the other. We address this issue in our dataset by using different hardware systems to record partially overlapping information and synchronized data that lend themselves to transfer learning. This multimodal dataset contains 9 hours of optical motion capture data, 17 hours of video data from 4 different points of view recorded by stationary and hand-held cameras, and 6.6 hours of inertial measurement units data recorded from 60 female and 30 male actors performing a collection of 21 everyday actions and sports movements. The processed motion capture data is also available as realistic 3D human meshes. We anticipate use of this dataset for research on human pose estimation, action recognition, motion modelling, gait analysis, and body shape reconstruction.

Full depth CNN classifier for handwritten and license plate characters recognition.

Project description:Character recognition is an important research field of interest for many applications. In recent years, deep learning has made breakthroughs in image classification, especially for character recognition. However, convolutional neural networks (CNN) still deliver state-of-the-art results in this area. Motivated by the success of CNNs, this paper proposes a simple novel full depth stacked CNN architecture for Latin and Arabic handwritten alphanumeric characters that is also utilized for license plate (LP) characters recognition. The proposed architecture is constructed by four convolutional layers, two max-pooling layers, and one fully connected layer. This architecture is low-complex, fast, reliable and achieves very promising classification accuracy that may move the field forward in terms of low complexity, high accuracy and full feature extraction. The proposed approach is tested on four benchmarks for handwritten character datasets, Fashion-MNIST dataset, public LP character datasets and a newly introduced real LP isolated character dataset. The proposed approach tests report an error of only 0.28% for MNIST, 0.34% for MAHDB, 1.45% for AHCD, 3.81% for AIA9K, 5.00% for Fashion-MNIST, 0.26% for Saudi license plate character and 0.97% for Latin license plate characters datasets. The license plate characters include license plates from Turkey (TR), Europe (EU), USA, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

ToxLex_bn: A curated dataset of bangla toxic language derived from Facebook comment.

Project description:Toxic Language in social media is a newly emerging virtual disorder of human society. Detecting toxic language is an NLP task that requires a Dataset of utterances [1]. For the Bangla language, very few datasets have been developed on toxicity or similar concepts [2]. A dataset has been developed using user-generated content from Facebook and that will cover the demographic and thematic distribution of Bangla toxic language generated on the web. Therefore, 2207590 comments have been collected, annotated, and thus extract about 1959 unique bigrams as utterances, which were considered as base-entry of a toxic language dataset. The core derivatives of the dataset are bigram-based wordlists, which are annotated inductively and divided into 08 thematic classes that give some ideas on toxicity variations found in the Bengali community. These thematic classes cover political hate speech [3] and misogynist bullies dominantly. However, these thematic labels will serve as classifiers in the text classification process through machine learning. In addition to the thematic classification labels, this dataset includes some additional features such as imprecise meanings in English, IPA transliteration, real occurrences in the source pages, spelling standards, and degree of toxicity. As this is a dataset of utterance, it has de-identified and anonymous entries and no difficulties for public disclosure. Therefore, we consider this dataset as Toxic lexicon (Toxlex) as an exhaustive wordlist that is essentially a curated value-added and analyzed dataset which can be used as classifier material to detect toxicity in social media.

Multi-heme proteins: nature's electronic multi-purpose tool.

Project description:While iron is often a limiting nutrient to Biology, when the element is found in the form of heme cofactors (iron protoporphyrin IX), living systems have excelled at modifying and tailoring the chemistry of the metal. In the context of proteins and enzymes, heme cofactors are increasingly found in stoichiometries greater than one, where a single protein macromolecule contains more than one heme unit. When paired or coupled together, these protein associated heme groups perform a wide variety of tasks, such as redox communication, long range electron transfer and storage of reducing/oxidizing equivalents. Here, we review recent advances in the field of multi-heme proteins, focusing on emergent properties of these complex redox proteins, and strategies found in Nature where such proteins appear to be modular and essential components of larger biochemical pathways. HyperKvasir, a comprehensive multi-class image and video dataset for gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Project description:Artificial intelligence is currently a hot topic in medicine. However, medical data is often sparse and hard to obtain due to legal restrictions and lack of medical personnel for the cumbersome and tedious process to manually label training data. These constraints make it difficult to develop systems for automatic analysis, like detecting disease or other lesions. In this respect, this article presents HyperKvasir, the largest image and video dataset of the gastrointestinal tract available today. The data is collected during real gastro- and colonoscopy examinations at Bærum Hospital in Norway and partly labeled by experienced gastrointestinal endoscopists. The dataset contains 110,079 images and 374 videos, and represents anatomical landmarks as well as pathological and normal findings. The total number of images and video frames together is around 1 million. Initial experiments demonstrate the potential benefits of artificial intelligence-based computer-assisted diagnosis systems. The HyperKvasir dataset can play a valuable role in developing better algorithms and computer-assisted examination systems not only for gastro- and colonoscopy, but also for other fields in medicine.

STATegra, a comprehensive multi-omics dataset of B-cell differentiation in mouse.

Project description:Multi-omics approaches use a diversity of high-throughput technologies to profile the different molecular layers of living cells. Ideally, the integration of this information should result in comprehensive systems models of cellular physiology and regulation. However, most multi-omics projects still include a limited number of molecular assays and there have been very few multi-omic studies that evaluate dynamic processes such as cellular growth, development and adaptation. Hence, we lack formal analysis methods and comprehensive multi-omics datasets that can be leveraged to develop true multi-layered models for dynamic cellular systems. Here we present the STATegra multi-omics dataset that combines measurements from up to 10 different omics technologies applied to the same biological system, namely the well-studied mouse pre-B-cell differentiation. STATegra includes high-throughput measurements of chromatin structure, gene expression, proteomics and metabolomics, and it is complemented with single-cell data. To our knowledge, the STATegra collection is the most diverse multi-omics dataset describing a dynamic biological system.
