Ciguatoxins (CTXs) contaminate fish worldwide and cause the foodborne illness ciguatera. In the Pacific, these toxins are produced by the dinoflagellate <i>Gambierdiscus toxicus</i>, which accumulates in fish through the food chain and undergoes oxidative modification, giving rise to numerous analogs.
