The synthesis of 2'-O-methyl-5-hydroxymethylcytidine (hm<sup>5</sup> Cm), 5-hydroxymethylcytidine (hm<sup>5</sup> C) and 5-formylcytidine (f<sup>5</sup> C) phosphoramidite monomers has been developed.
