The reaction of arylstannanes ArSnR<sub>3</sub> with unfunctionalised alkynes was found to proceed in the presence of a rhodium catalyst and a catalytic amount of zinc chloride to give <i>ortho</i>-alkenylarylstannanes with high selectivity in high yields.
