We have shown that aggregated LDL is internalized by macrophages and oxidized in lysosomes by redox-active iron. We have now investigated to determine whether the lysosomal oxidation of LDL impairs lysosomal function and whether a lysosomotropic antioxidant can prevent these alterations.
