Synthesis and structural study of tris-(2,6-di-amino-pyridinium) bis-(oxalato)dioxidovanadate(V) 2.5-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: Crystals of the title compound, (C5H8N3)3[VO2(C2O4)2]·2.5H2O, a mononuclear VV complex, were obtained by slow evaporation at room temperature of an aqueous solution containing vanadium pentoxide, oxalic acid and 2,6-di-amino-pyridine. The asymmetric unit contains one bis-(oxalato)dioxovanadate(V) anionic complex, three 2,6-di-amino-pyridinium cations and two and a half uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The mononuclear vanadium(V) anions are connected to the organic cations and water mol-ecules through a strong N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bond network, consolidated by ?-? stacking inter-actions, to form a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title hybrid salt, (C7H11N2)3[Cr(C2O4)3]·4H2O, the central Cr(III) ion of the complex anion (point group symmetry 2) is coordinated by six O atoms from three chelating oxalate(2-) ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere. The Cr-O bond lengths vary from 1.9577?(11) to 1.9804?(11)?Å, while the chelate O-Cr-O angles range from 82.11?(6) to 93.41?(5)°. The 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations (one situated in a general position and one on a twofold rotation axis) are protonated at the pyridine N atoms. In the crystal, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the cations and anions into a three-dimensional network. ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings of adjacent cations provide additional stabilization of the crystal packing, with the closest centroid-to-centroid distances being 3.541?(1) and 3.575?(1)?Å.

Project description:The title organic-inorganic hybrid salt, (C7H11N2)2[V(C2O4)2O(H2O)]·2H2O, shows a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment for the vanadium(IV) atom in the anion (point group symmetry 2), with four O atoms from two symmetry-related chelating oxalate dianions and two O atoms in trans configuration from a coordinating water mol-ecule and a terminal vanadyl O atom. In the crystal, (001) layers of cations and anions alternate along [001]. The anionic layers are built up by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinating and solvent water mol-ecules. The cationic layers are linked to the anionic layers via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the pyridinium group and the non-coordinating O atoms of the oxalate group. The 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations are also engaged in π-π stacking with their anti-parallel neighbours [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.686 (2) Å]. Considering all supra-molecular features, a three-dimensional network structure is accomplished.

Project description:The reaction of copper(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (pydcH(2)) and 2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-triazine (melamine) in aqueous solution in a 1:2:2 molar ratio gave the title compound, (H(5)O(2))(C(3)H(7)N(6))(3)[Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)](2)·C(7)H(5)NO(4)·6H(2)O. The hydroxonium hydrate (H(5)O(2))(+), also known as the Zundel cation, resides on a twofold rotation axis. The O-H distance is 1.274?(14)?Å, the O?O distance is 2.518?(5)?Å, and the O-H-O angle is 162?(8)°. One of the melamine H(+) cations, the uncoordinated pydcH(2), and two water mol-ecules also reside on crystallographic twofold axes. The Cu(II) atom has a tetra-gonally distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The structure features extensive hydrogen bonding, with 21 distinct inter-actions. There is also a centrosymmetric C=O?? inter-action with an O?centroid distance of 3.288?(3)?Å. The structure is similar to a mixed-valence manganese(II/III) structure but shows inter-esting differences in the metal-atom coordination. One of the water molecules is equally disordered with respect to a twofold axis.

Project description:The title compound, (C(4)H(12)N(2))(3)[Nd(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)](2)·15.33H(2)O or (pipzH(2))(3)[Nd(pydc)(3)](2)·15.33H(2)O (in which pipz is piperazine and pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized by the reaction of NdCl(3)·6H(2)O with the proton-transfer compound (pipzH(2))(pydc) in aqueous solution. The nine donor atoms of the three pydc(2-) ligands form a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic arrangement around the Nd(III) center. Considerable C-O⋯π stacking inter-actions between CO groups of carboxyl-ate fragments and aromatic rings of pydc(2-) with distances of 3.135 (5)-3.255 (5) Å are observed. In the crystal structure, a wide range of hydrogen-bonding [of the types O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O, with D⋯A distances ranging from 2.608 (10) to 3.278 (7) Å], ion-pairing and C-O⋯π stacking interactions connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure. There is a high degree of solvent disorder in the structure; the occupancies of five water molecules refined to 0.6, 0.5, 0.4, 0.25 and 0.25.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(III)(NH₃)₆]₃[Co(II)(C₂O₄)₃]₂Cl·12H₂O, was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit comprises two [Co(NH₃)₆]³⁺ cations, one located on a threefold axis and the other on a site of symmetry -3, a [Co(C₂O₄)₃]⁴⁺ anion, located on a threefold axis, one sixth of a chloride anion [disordered over two sites, one threefold (site occupancy = 0.5) and the other -3 (site occupancy (0.25)] and two water molecules. Both Co(III) centers are six-coordinated by NH₃ mol-ecules, forming [Co(NH₃)₆]³⁺ octa-hedra, with Co-N distances in the range 1.958 (2)-1.977 (3) Å. The title structure gives the first example of the [Co(C₂O₄)₃]⁴⁻ anion, with the distorted octa-hedral environment of Co(II) center formed by six O atoms from three oxalate residues. The Co-O bond lengths are 2.0817 (18) to 2.0979 (18) Å. Multiple N-H⋯O, N-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the cations, anions and water mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C5H8N3 (+)·Cl(-), comprises one half of the 2,6-di-amino-pyridinium cation (the other half being completed by the application of mirror symmetry) and one Cl(-) counter-anion, also located on the mirror plane. The amino N atom shows a significant pyramidalization, with a dihedral angle of 30.4 (14)° between the least-squares planes of the amino group and the non-H atoms of the 2,6-di-amino-pyridinium moiety. In the crystal, the cationic mol-ecules and Cl(-) counter-anions are arranged in sheets parallel to (001) consisting of alternating polar and non-polar parts associated with the the Cl(-) anions, pyridinium and amino moieties, and the pyridine rings, respectively. N-H⋯Cl inter-actions within the polar part, as well as slipped π-π inter-actions in the non-polar part, help to establish the three-dimensional network.

The average Fe-O(oxalate) bond length [2.00 (2) Å] is shorter than the average Fe-O(water) bond length [2.027 (19) Å]. The ionic components are connected via inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title salt, 2C(6)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(8)H(4)O(4) (2-)·4H(2)O, the terephthalate carboxyl-ate groups inter-acts with the 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridinium cations via a pair of N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif. The water mol-ecules form an R(6) (6)(12) ring motif through O-H?O hydrogen bonds and these motifs are fused, forming a supra-molecular chain along the c axis. The R(2) (2)(8) and R(6) (6)(12) ring motifs are connected via O-H?O hydrogen bonds. In addition, ?-? stacking inter-actions are observed between the pyridinium rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.522?(12)?Å].
