Crystal structure of 7,8,15,16,17-penta-thiadi-spiro-[5.2.5⁹.3⁶]hepta-deca-ne.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C₁₂H₂₀S₅, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2₁/c with four mol-ecules in the unit cell. In the crystal, the asymmetric unit comprises the entire mol-ecule with the three cyclic moieties arranged in a line. The mol-ecules in the unit cell pack in a parallel fashion, with their longitudinal axes arranged along a uniform direction. The packing is stabilized by the one-dimensional propagation of non-classical hydrogen-bonding contacts between the central sulfur atom of the S₃ fragment and the C-H of a cyclo-hexyl group from a glide-related mol-ecule [C⋯S = 3.787 (2) Å].

Project description:The title salt, [CoBr(C11H27N5)]Br2·2H2O, contains a complex cation with mirror symmetry and two Br(-) counter-anions that are likewise located on the mirror plane. The central Co(III) atom of the complex cation has one Br(-) ion in an axial position, one N atom of the penta-dentate macrocyclic ligand in the other axial position and four N atoms of the ligand in equatorial positions, defining a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The macrocyclic ligand is coordinated to the Co(III) atom within a 5, 6, 5 arrangement of chelate rings in the equatorial plane of the four N atoms. Due to symmetry, the configuration of the chiral N atoms is 1RS, 4SR, 10RS, 13SR. In the crystal, N-H⋯Br, O-H⋯Br and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the complex cation, anions and lattice water mol-ecules generate a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, (NH(4))(5)Na(7)[Mo(5)P(2)O(23)](2)·21H(2)O, was prepared under atmospheric conditions in aqueous solution at room temperature. The structure contains the [Mo(5)P(2)O(23)](6-) heteropolyoxometallate anion, which has been previously reported a number of times with a variety of differing counter-cations. Each anion is built up of five MoO(6) octa-hedra sharing an edge and forming a ring which is closed by common corners of the terminal octa-hedra. The rings are closed on both sides by two asymmetric PO(4) tetra-hedra, sharing three corners with three MoO(6) octa-hedra. The anions are chiral and the two independent anions in the asymmetric unit were arbitarily chosen with the same chirality, but the centrosymmetric crystal contains both enanti-omers. The structure can alternatively be described as a succession of layers parallel to (101), formed by the [Mo(5)P(2)O(23)](6-) anions and linked by sodium chains. Water mol-ecules and ammonium ions fill the remaining space and ensure the cohesion through extensive N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C10H15)(C2H4)2], was prepared by Na/Hg reduction of [Co2(C10H15)2(μ-Cl)2] in THF under an ethyl-ene atmosphere and crystallized from pentane at 193 K. The Co-C(olefin) bonds have an average length of 2.022 (2) Å, while the Co-C(penta-dien-yl) bonds average 2.103 (19) Å. The olefin C=C bonds are 1.410 (1) Å. The dihedral angle between the planes defined by the cyclo-penta-dienyl ligand and the two olefin ligands is 0.25 (12)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into chains by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

The three non-aromatic six-membered rings are in boat conformations, while the five-membered ring has an envelope conformation on the S atom. In the crystal, there are three C-H⋯π inter-actions, which facilitate the packing of the mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, trans-di-aqua-(3,10-dimethyl-1,3,5,8,10,12-hexa-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane-κ4 N 1,N 5,N 8,N 12)copper(II) 4,4'-methyl-ene-bis(3-hy-droxy-naphthalene-2-carboxyl-ate), [Cu(C10H26N6)(H2O)2](C23H14O6) {[Cu(L)(H2O)2](pam), where L = 3,10-dimethyl-1,3,5,8,10,12-hexa-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane and pam = dianion of pamoic acid} consists of two independent halves of the [Cu(L)(H2O)2]2+ cation and one di-carboxyl-ate anion. The CuII atoms, lying on inversion centres, are coordinated by the four secondary N atoms of the macrocyclic ligands and the mutually trans O atoms of the water mol-ecules in a tetra-gonally elongated octa-hedral geometry. The average equatorial Cu-N bond length is significantly shorter than the average axial Cu-O bond length [2.007 (10) and 2.486 (18) Å, respectively]. The macrocyclic ligand in the complex cations adopts the most energetically stable trans-III conformation. The complex cations and anions are connected via hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the N-H groups of the macrocycles and the O-H groups of coordinated water mol-ecules as the proton donors and the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate as the proton acceptors into layers lying parallel to the (11) plane.

Project description:The crystalline product (NH4)2[Zn(C3H7NO)(H2O)5]2[V10O28]·4H2O was success-fully isolated from an H2O/DMF solvent combination by evaporation at ambient temperature. The salt crystallizes in the P21/n space group. Imidazole, initially used in the synthesis but not present in the product, and DMF solvent appear to affect the synthesis and crystallization as structural-directing agents. In the title compound, the complex cation [Zn(H2O)5(DMF)]2+ acts as a counter-ion without being directly coordinated to the deca-vanadate anion. An extensive framework of hydrogen bonds integrates the whole architecture as evidenced by X-ray crystallography. The polyoxometalate [V10O28]6- lies on a center of symmetry while the complex cation [Zn(H2O)5(DMF)]2+ links three adjacent anions through a set of 2 + 2 + 3 hydrogen bonds.

Recrystallization of the resulting powder from p-xylene gave the title hemisolvate; the p-xylene mol-ecule is located about an inversion center. In the crystal, the primary tetrone contacts are between a carbonyl O atom and the four flagpole H atoms of the bi-cyclo-[2.2.2]octene core, forming chains along [001].

The average equatorial Cu-N bond lengths are significantly shorter than the average axial Cu-O bond lengths [2.020?(9) versus 2.495?(12)?Å and 2.015?(4) versus 2.507?(7)?Å for (I) and (II), respectively]. The coordinated macrocyclic ligand in the cations of both compounds adopts the most energetically favorable trans-III conformation. In the crystals, the complex cations and counter-anions are connected via hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the N-H groups of the macrocycles and the O-H groups of coordinated water mol-ecules as the proton donors and the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate as the proton acceptors. Additionally, as a result of O-H?O hydrogen bonding with the coordinated and water mol-ecules of crystallization, the isophthalate dianions form layers lying parallel to the (01) and (100) planes in (I) and (II), respectively.

Project description:The title compound, C19H16F4O4, was prepared by the condensation reaction of 2,6-di-fluoro-benzaldehyde and penta-erythritol. The whole mol-ecule is generated by twofold rotational symmetry. The two six-membered O-heterocycles adopt chair conformations through a shared spiro-carbon atom that is located on the crystallographic twofold rotation axis. In this conformation, the two aromatic rings are located at the equatorial positions of the O-heterocycles. The conformation of this doubly substituted tetra-oxa-spiro system is chiral. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (100). These layers are linked by C-H?F hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional structure.
