There is an unmet clinical need for new and robust imaging biomarkers to distinguish indolent from aggressive prostate cancer. Hallmarks of aggressive tumors such as a decrease in extracellular pH (pH<sub>e</sub>) can potentially be used to identify aggressive phenotypes.
