Dataset on determinants of intention and investment behaviour amongst young Indonesian millennials.

ABSTRACT: The dataset examines three factors (i.e. financial literacy, self-control, peer-influence) that influence investment behaviour amongst young Indonesian millennials. Using a non-probability sampling technique, a total of 265 young millennials attending Investment Gallery seminar and workshop events in Jakarta, Indonesia completed an investment behaviour survey. The reflective measurement was performed using the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) to the screened data from the survey (N?=?213). The measurement includes the evaluation of outer loading, internal reliability, and convergent reliability. The final equation model was evaluated and estimated using SmartPLS v.3.3.2 program. The dataset is beneficial for companies seeking for potential investors from young millennials. The dataset also provides valuable insights for the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) and universities, particularly the faculty of economy and business in preparing their students with the financial literacy and investment knowledge.

Project description:This study uses protection motivation theory (PMT) to examine the quitting intentions and behaviours of smokers who have varying levels of nicotine dependence. Our goals are to identify the psychological factors that influence smoking cessation and to provide valuable evidence to promote theory-guided interventions. This is a cross-sectional study that was conducted from July to August 2020. Participants were randomly selected on the streets of 26 provinces on mainland China. Data were collected via face-to-face interviews. Our analysis was conducted in three steps. First, we employed descriptive statistics to present the overall characteristics of our sample. Second, we analysed the association between PMT constructs and quitting intentions stratified by nicotine dependence. Third, we tested how quitting intentions were associated with quitting behaviours in each subgroup using logistic regression models. For intention, almost all the PMT constructs were significantly associated with quitting intention in the low-dependence group. For the moderate- and high-dependence groups, only perceived vulnerability (coefficient = 0.35, P = 0.04) was positively associated with quitting intention. For behaviour, we found a stronger association between quitting intention and behaviour in the low-dependence group (Coef. = 1.67, P = 0.00) than for the other groups. We found a significant association between e-cigarette use and quitting behaviour only in the low-dependence group (Coef. = 1.34, P = 0.00). Coefficients for the moderate- and high-dependence groups were not statistically significant. Smokers at various levels of nicotine dependence have different psychological factors that influence their intentions to stop smoking. Quitting intention was more significantly associated with quitting behaviour for the low nicotine-dependence group than for the other groups. More convincing research is necessary to determine how e-cigarette use affects quitting behaviour in the long term.

Project description:The attachment system is an innate human instinct to gain a sense of security as a form of self-defense from threats. Adults with secure attachment can maintain the balance of their relationships with themselves and significant others such as parents, romantic partners, and close friends. Generally, the adult attachment assessment data are collected primarily from subjective responses through questionnaires or interviews, which are closed to the research community. Attachment assessment from behavioral traits has also not been studied in depth because attachment-related behavioral data are still not openly available for research. This limits the scope of attachment assessment to new alternative innovations, such as the application of machine learning and deep learning-based approaches. This paper presents the Indonesian Young Adult Attachment (IYAA) dataset, a facial expression and speech audio dataset of Indonesian young adults in attachment projective-based assessment. The assessment contains two stages: exposure and response of 14 attachment-based stimuli. IYAA consists of audio-video data from age groups between 18-29 years old, with 20 male and 67 female subjects. It contains 1216 exposure videos, 1217 response videos, and 1217 speech response audios. Each data has a varying duration; the duration for exposure video ranges from 25 seconds to 1 minute 39 seconds, while for response video and speech response audio ranges from 40 seconds to 8 minutes and 25 seconds. The IYAA dataset is annotated into two kinds of labels: emotion and attachment. First, emotion labeling is annotated on each stimulus for all subject data (exposure videos, response videos, speech response audios). Each data is annotated into one or more labels among eight basic emotion categories (neutral, happy, sad, contempt, anger, disgust, surprised, fear) since each attachment-related event involves unconscious mental processes characterized by emotional changes. Second, each subject is annotated into one among three attachment style labels: secure, insecure-anxious, and insecure-avoidance. Given these two kinds of labeling, the IYAA dataset supports several research purposes, either using one kind of label separately or using them together for attachment classification research. It also supports innovative approaches to build automatic attachment classification through collaboration between the study of Behavioral, Developmental, and Social Psychology with Social Signal Processing.

Project description:BackgroundWe studied the intention of a group of insurance physicians to use the guidelines for depression, and their behaviour in disability assessments. We considered attitude, social norm and self-efficacy, knowledge/skills and stimuli, based on the Attitude-Social norm-self-Efficacy model (ASE model) as possible determinants of both intention and behaviour.The aim of this study was to understand the determinants of insurance physicians' behaviour when they are expected to use guidelines in daily practice.MethodA representative sample of 42 insurance physicians participated in this study. Cross-sectional data were collected by means of a questionnaire based on the ASE model. We developed the questionnaire on the basis of literature and ascertained the content validity of it. Behaviour was made to comprise both "use of the guidelines" and "change in disability assessment behaviour" by the insurance physicians. Reliability analyses were performed to form additive scales of the ASE constructs. These scales were analysed with structural equations modelling (LISREL), by modifying a start model into a final model with a good fit, within theoretical constraints. In these analyses special attention was paid to the fact that the sample size was small.ResultsThe most important determinants of the intention and the self-reported use of the guidelines, were: the influence of colleagues, the self-efficacy of the insurance physicians in their use of the guidelines, and the way the guidelines were implemented. The intention to use the guidelines for depression was not associated with the self-reported use of these guidelines, but there proved to be a faint, positive association with the self-reported change in assessment behaviour.ConclusionsAlmost all the insurance physicians in this study intended to use at least elements of the guidelines. Their intention, self reported use of the guidelines and self-reported change in assessment behaviour were explored with help of the ASE model. The model suggested relationships between intention, self reported use of the guidelines and self-reported change in assessment behaviour on the on the one hand and various determinants on the other hand. Be that as it may, we see opportunities to improve insurance physicians' guideline adherence by offering them a multifaceted training in which they learn to apply the guidelines for depression.

Project description:Introduction To promote patients’ referral across healthcare institutions and integrated care delivery, we identified predictors of physicians’ behaviour and intention to refer patients in a county medical consortium in China on the basis of the theory of planned behaviour (TPB). Methods This census-based cross-sectional study was conducted in Yangxi Hospital Group (YHG). All physicians in county hospitals and township health centres were invited to participate. Structural equation modelling was employed to analyse the relationships between referral intention and behaviour and other TPB variables in the group of whole participants and in sub-groups. Results In total, 330 physicians participated in this study. One-third of participants were general practitioners, and half of them were from county hospitals. Referral behaviour of females (χ2 = 20.372, p < 0.001), who had lower education levels (χ2 = 17.859, p = 0.001), lower professional title (χ2 = 14.963, p = 0.005), and lower monthly salary (χ2 = 33.753, p < 0.001) were less frequent than the others. Among them, 116 (35.2%), 108 (32.7%), and 106 (32.1%) respondents reported that they had never referred patients, had referred patients 1–9 times, and had referred patients over 10 times during the past 3 months, respectively. The mean score of referral intention was 4.23/5 (SD = 0.71). In the model with all participants, a stronger referral intention (β = 0.218, 95% CI = 0.080–0.356) was associated with more frequent referral behaviour. The subjective norm (β = 0.703, 95% CI = 0.590–0.817) was the strongest predictor of physicians’ referral intention, followed by perceived behavioural control (β = 0.234, 95% CI = 0.090–0.378). Mediated by referral intention, subjective norms (β = 0.153, p < 0.01) and perceived behavioural control (β = 0.190, p < 0.01) had significant indirect effects on physicians’ referral behaviour. The model with participants in county hospitals showed similar results to the model with all participants. Meanwhile, in the model with participants in township health centres, there were no significant associations between referral behaviour and other TPB constructs. Conclusion Physicians’ referral behaviour was influenced by intention, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control in Chinese county hospitals.
