The complete mitochondrial genome of Sargassum siliquastrum (Phaeophyceae) and its phylogenetic analysis.

ABSTRACT: The complete S. siliquastrum mitogenome length was 34,765 bp. The mitogenome contains 67 genes, including 37 protein-coding, three rRNA, 25 tRNA genes, and two conserved open reading frames (ORFs). The overall GC content of the genome is 36.59%. The complete mitogenome sequence provided herein would help understand Sargassum evolution.

Project description:The mitochondrial genome of Sargassum patens was completely sequenced. This mitogenome is a circular molecule of 34,844 bp in length and had an overall GC content of 36.20%. The mitogenome contains 37 protein-coding, three rRNA, 25 tRNA genes and two conserved open reading frames (ORFs). The Maximum-likelihood (ML) tree showed that S. patens has a closer relationship with S. aquifolium.

Project description:Sargassum hemiphyllum (Turner) C. Agardh is an important brown macroalga. In this study, we presented the complete chloroplast genome of its variety S. hemiphyllum var. chinense using genome skimming approach. Circular mapping revealed its sequence length was 124,319 bp, with a large single-copy region (LSC, 73,505 bp) and a small single copy region (SSC, 39,922 bp) separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRs, 5446 bp). Its chloroplast genome contained 173 genes, including 139 protein-coding, 6 rRNA, and 28 tRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that S. hemiphyllum var. chinense was closely related with S. confusum.

Complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of brown alga Scytosiphon lomentaria (Ectocarpales, Phaeophyceae).

Project description:The present study provides a mitochondrial genome sequence of Scytosiphon lomentaria, which is better than the previously established data in China. This mitogenome is 39,971 bp in length and consists of 35 protein-coding genes, 3 ribosomal-RNA genes, 24 transfer-RNA genes, and 5 open reading frames. Overall, the base composition was as follows: A, 29.7%; C, 12.8%; G, 19.2%; and T, 38.4%. The phylogenetic analysis based on the protein-coding genes indicated that the S. lomentaria collected in the samples was at an earlier differentiation position. These results contribute to the further understanding of Phaeophyceae phylogenetic relationships and species identification.

Project description:Sargassum kjellmanianum plays an important role in marine ecosystem and biological resource utilization. Here, we analyzed the characteristics and evolution of mitochondrial genome of S. kjellmanianum by paired-end sequencing. The complete mitogenome comprises a circular DNA molecule measuring 34,723 bp in length with 35 coding genes. The circular genome consisted of seven protein-coding genes, 25 tRNA genes, and three rRNA genes, with a total length of 26,553 bp. The overall A + T content was 63.43%, higher than the G + C content (36.57%). Phylogenetic analysis confirmed S. kjellmanianum was closely clustered with S. muticum.

Circular mapping revealed that the complete chloroplast DNA sequences of S. horneri was 124,075 bp in length and had an overall AT content of 69.41%, including 139 protein-coding genes, 28 transfer RNA genes, and 6 ribosomal RNA genes. The phylogenetic tree shows that S. horneri and Sargassum confusum constituted a sister clade along with Fucus vesiculosus.

In this study, we characterized the complete chloroplast genome sequence of S. fusiforme using PacBio long-read sequencing technology. It had a circular mapping molecular with the length of 124,286?bp, with a large single-copy region (LSC, 73,437?bp) and a small single copy region (SSC, 40,131?bp) separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRs, 5,359?bp). The cp genome contained 173 genes including 139 protein-coding, 6 rRNA, and 28 tRNA genes. The phylogenomic analysis indicated that S. fusiforme is closely related to S. thunbergii.

Complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of Ixodes persulcatus (taiga tick).

Project description:Ixodes persulcatus is a species of hard tick which is a predominant tick species that spreads a wide array of serious human and animal pathogens. Here, we first assemble the complete mitogenome of I. persulcatus of China. The total length of the mitogenome was 14,539 bp included 36 genes and with a mitogenome structure similar to other ticks. Phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the complete mitogenome of I. persulcatus and closely related 19 species ticks to assess their phylogenic relationship and evolution. We also analyze the differences between the mitogenomes of I. persulcatus of Japan and China. The complete mitogenome data would be useful for further study of I. persulcatus.

Project description:The complete nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Aspiorhynchus laticeps was determined. The length of the complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of A. laticeps is 16,591 bp, which consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and a non-coding region 'D-loop'. Except for the D-loop, another non-coding region named replication origin of L-strand (OL) region was also found. According to the phylogenetic analysis, A. laticeps has a closer relationship with Schizothorax.

Gene annotation showed that 35 protein-coding genes, 2 open reading frames, 25 transfer RNA genes, and 3 ribosomal RNA genes. The phylogenetic tree based on Bayesian shows that S. fusiforme belongs to genus Sargassum, support current taxonomic systems.
