Superparamagnetic nanoparticles (iron oxide nanoparticles-IONs) are suitable for hyperthermia after irradiating with radiofrequency radiation. Concerning the suitability for laser ablation, IONs present a low molar absorption coefficient in the near-infrared region close to 800 nm.
