The complete mitogenome of Habropoda rodoszkowskii (Hymenoptera: Apidae) and phylogenetic analysis.

ABSTRACT: The mitogenome of Habropoda rodoszkowskii, the first complete mitogenome sequence of the genus Habropoda (hymenoptera: Apidae), was sequenced. The mitogenome is 18,497 bp (The proportion of A + T in 80.7%) long, with 37 classic eukaryotic mitochondrial genes (including 13 PCGs, 22 tRNAs, and 2 rRNAs) and an AT-rich region (The proportion of A + T in 78.2%). The Bayesian-inference and Maximum-likelihood phylogenetic relationship was constructed using 15 species from Hymenoptera. According to the phylogenetic tree, Habropoda rodoszkowskii converges with genus Nomada bees (Nomada flava and Nomada flavoguttata) to be supported. In addition, Habropoda rodoszkowskii is more closely related to Apidae than to Megahilidae and Colletidae.

Project description:Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Bombus filchnerae (Hymenoptera: Apidae). The genome size of B. filchnerae was 18,553 bp with 88.7% A + T content, containing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and an AT-rich control region (D-loop). tRNA rearrangement was observed in this mitochondrial genome when compared to those of other bumblebee species (e.g. Bombus breviceps and Bombus asiaticus). All the 13 PCGs initiated with typical ATN codons. Among them, 11 PCGs terminated with TAA, only nad4 and nad5 with incomplete stop codon TA and T, respectively. All the 22 tRNAs can be folded into typical cloverleaf structure, except for trnS1, whose dihydrouridine (DHU) arm forms a simple loop. The phylogenetic analysis based on the concatenated nucleotide sequences of all 13 PCGs indicated that B. filchnerae showed the closest relationship with Bombus pascuorum, forming a mono clade of the subgenus Thoracobombus, with well-resolved relationships among nine Bombus subgenera.

The complete mitogenome of Lasioglossum affine (Hymenoptera: Halictidae) and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:The complete mitogenome of Lasioglossum affine (Hymenoptera: Halictidae) was sequenced and analyzed. The whole mitogenome is 17,352 bp (AT%=84.1%) and encodes 37 typical eukaryotic mitochondrial genes, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and an AT-rich region. Further analysis found three gene rearrangements, where trn I-Q-M → trn M-I-Q, trn W-C-Y → trn C-W-Y, and trn K-D → trn D-K were shuffled. The phylogenetic relationships of 19 species of Hymenoptera were established using maximum-likelihood method based on 13 concatenated PCGs. The result showed that Lasioglossum affine is a sister of Lasioglossum sp. SJW-2017.

The complete mitogenome of Nomia chalybeata (Hymenoptera: Halictidae) and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:The complete mitogenome of Nomia chalybeata was sequenced. The mitochondrial length of N. chalybeata was 16,692 bp (AT content 85.4%), with 37 classic invertebrate mitochondrial genes (including 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transporter RNAs, and two ribosomal RNAs) and AT-rich region (AT content 91.7%). The maximum-likelihood phylogenetic relationship was constructed using 11 species from Hymenoptera. Through the phylogenetic relationship, our research team successfully used the molecular data of the mitochondrial genome to verify that N. chalybeata belongs to the family Halictidae, and also provides molecular data for the database of the family Halictidae.

The complete mitogenome of Halictus (Seladonia) aerarius (Hymenoptera: Halictidae) and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:The Halictidae, where the Seladonia aeraria belongs, was an important model organism for studying the evolution of insect social behavior. We first sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Seladonia aeraria. The mitogenome was 15, 410 bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and a hypothetical control region. In order to reveal the phylogenetic position of Seladonia aeraria form mitogenomic level, we performed phylogenetic analysis of 13 PCGs from 15 species. The results revealed that the genus-level relationship of Halictidae was Seladonia + Lasioglossum and Seladonia aeraria was more closely related to Seladonia tumulorum than Lasioglossum sp. SJW_2017. The complete mitogenome of S. aeraria will provide a basis for further study evolution and phylogenetic analysis of Halictidae.

The complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of the Arabian Honeybee Apis mellifera jemenitica (Insecta: Hymenoptera: Apidae) from Saudi Arabia.

Project description:Fourteen mitochondrial genomes from workers of the Arabian Honeybee Apis mellifera jemenitica were determined. Genomes range from 16,352 to 16,445 bp. Each consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, two ribosomal RNAs, and one control region. The mitogenome sequences revealed 753 Variable sites in total, distributed within protein-coding loci (199), ribosomal RNAs genes (117), transfere RNAs genes (48), and non-coding AT-rich region's (389). Phylogenetic analysis with Neighbor-Joining method suggested three evolutionary groups for these mitogenomes, closely related to A. m. jemenitica, A. m. lamarckii, A. m. syriaca, and A. m. scutellata.

The Nothoaspis amazoniensis Complete Mitogenome: A Comparative and Phylogenetic Analysis.

Project description:The molecular biology era, together with morphology, molecular phylogenetics, bioinformatics, and high-throughput sequencing technologies, improved the taxonomic identification of Argasidae family members, especially when considering specimens at different development stages, which remains a great difficulty for acarologists. These tools could provide important data and insights on the history and evolutionary relationships of argasids. To better understand these relationships, we sequenced and assembled the first complete mitochondrial genome of Nothoaspis amazoniensis. We used phylogenomics to identify the evolutionary history of this species of tick, comparing the data obtained with 26 complete mitochondrial sequences available in biological databases. The results demonstrated the absence of genetic rearrangements, high similarity and identity, and a close organizational link between the mitogenomes of N. amazoniensis and other argasids analyzed. In addition, the mitogenome had a monophyletic cladistic taxonomic arrangement, encompassed by representatives of the Afrotropical and Neotropical regions, with specific parasitism in bats, which may be indicative of an evolutionary process of cospeciation between vectors and the host.

This circular mitogenome is 16,743 bp (83.5% AT) in length, with two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 13 protein-coding genes. All protein-coding genes are initiated with the common invertebrate initiation codon except TTA for ND2, and terminated by the typical stop codon TAA or TAG. tRNA-Ser (TCT) lacks a dihydrouridine (DHU) arm while other tRNA genes form a cloverleaf structure. Phylogenetic analysis shows that genus Bombus has a closer relationship with genus Melipona than any other genera in Apidae family, and B. breviceps clusters closer to B. lapidarius than any other bumblebees with sequenced mitogenome.

The complete mitogenome of Metopograpsus quadridentatus and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Metopograpsus quadridentatus was determined to be 15,520 bp in length. It consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNAs and a control region. There are 13 overlapping regions in the genome with 1 to 25 bp length. The largest overlapping region is located between nad1 and trnL1. The AT-skew and GC-skew for the whole mitogenome are both negative, indicating a higher occurrence of Ts than As and Cs than Gs. The molecular data here we presented could play a useful role to study the evolutionary relationships and population genetics of Grapsidae crabs.
