Crystal structure of bis-{2-hy-droxy-N'-[1-(pyrazin-2-yl)ethyl-idene]benzohydrazidato}cadmium(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex mol-ecule, [Cd(C₁₃H₁₁N₄O₂)₂], the Cd atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two tridentate ligands synthesized from 2-hy-droxy-benzohydrazide and 1-(pyrazin-2-yl)ethan-1-one. The mol-ecule has twofold crystallographic symmetry and is isomorphous to its Mn, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn counterparts.

In the crystal, an O-H?O hydrogen bond and a weak C-H?O contact involving the same acceptor atom generate an S(6) ring motif and give rise to chains along [010].

Project description:The title compound, C32H30N4O2S4, consists of two Schiff base moieties, namely two S-benzyl-β-N-(2-hy-droxy-phenyl-ethyl-idene)di-thio-carbazate groups, which are connected through an S-S single bond. These two moieties are twisted with respect to each other, with a dihedral angle of 87.88 (4)° between the S2C=N planes. A bifurcated intra-molecular O-H⋯(N,S) hydrogen bond is observed in each moiety. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into inversion dimers. The dimers are further stacked in a column along the b axis through weak C-H⋯π inter-actions.
