Nitro-sonium tetra-fluorido-borate, NOBF₄.

ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of oxido-nitro-gen(1+) tetra-fluorido-borate (nitro-sonium tetra-fluorido-borate), NO⁺BF₄ ^-, was refined on the basis of single-crystal X-ray diffraction data at 150 K. The compound crystallizes in the baryte structure type with ortho-rhom-bic Pnma symmetry. The crystal structure exhibits cationic disorder with equal occupation of N and O atoms at the same site.

Project description:The title complex, [Ag(C(18)H(15)P)(4)]BF(4), was prepared by the reaction of silver(I) tetra-fluorido-borate and triphenyl-phosphane in the presence of 1,2-bis-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl-ene. The Ag(I) atom is tetra-hedrally coordinated by four P atoms from triphenyl-phosphane (PPh(3)) ligands. Due to symmetry, the tetra-fluorido-borate anion is disordered over three positions (each with one third occupancy). The tetra-fluorido-borate anion does not coordinate to the Ag(I) atom.

Project description:In the title manganese(III) complex, [MnCl(2)(C(10)H(24)N(4))]BF(4) or trans-[MnCl(2)(cyclam)]BF(4) (cyclam is the tetra-dentate amine ligand 1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclo-tetra-deca-ne), the Mn(III) ions occupy the center of a distorted octa-hedron coordinated by all four ligand nitro-gen donors in the macrobicyclic cavity and two chloride ions occupy the axial positions. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonding involving the coordinated chloride ions and the hydrogen atoms of the cyclam ligand is observed. Inter-molecular hydrogen bonding involving the tetrafluoridoborate anion and hydrogen atoms of the cyclam ligand leads to an infinite one-dimensional chain along the a axis. The tetra-fluoridoborate and inorganic units are linked by N-H?F hydrogen bonds. The structure may be compared with those of analogous compounds [MnCl(2)(cyclam)]ClO(4) and [Mn(CN)(2)(cyclam)]ClO(4).

Project description:The homoleptic thio-ether title complex, [Ni(C(6)H(12)S(3))(2)](BF(4))(2)·2CH(3)NO(2), shows the expeced hexa-kis-(thio-ether) octa-hedral environment around the Ni(II) atom. It crystallized as two crystallographically independent complex cations, [Ni(9S3)(2)](2+) (9S3 = 1,4,7-trithia-cyclo-nona-ne), within the unit cell where each Ni(II) lies on an inversion center. In addition to the complex cations, there are two crystallographically independent BF(4) (-) anions present to balance the charge, and each shows disorder along a pseudo-C(3) axis with ratios of 0.53?(2):0.47?(2) and 0.55?(2):0.45?(2). Two nitro-methane solvent mol-ecules per complex cation are also present in the unit cell.

Project description:Crystals of the title compound, C17H15N2 +·BF4 -, were unexpectedly grown from crystallization attempts of [Pt(4,4'-bpy)4](BF4)2 [Smith et al. (2019 ▸). Comments Inorg. Chem. 39, 188-215] using toluene and aceto-nitrile. The tetra-fluoro-borate anion and the central pyridinium ring of the cation are disordered, with atomic site occupancies close to ½. The tolyl group of the cation has a 75.31 (11)° twist relative to the unsubstituted pyridyl group. This rotation allows for a centrosymmetric dimer of cations with weak hydrogen bonding between the pyridyl nitro-gen atom and a methyl H atom on the neighbouring cation.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(H2O)6](BF4)2·3C4H4N2O2, comprises discrete [Cu(H2O)6](2+) cations and BF4 (-) anions along with three equivalents of pyrazine 1,4-dioxide (pzdo). The hexa-aqua-copper(II) ion and all three pzdo mol-ecules lie about crystallographic inversion centers. The lattice is supported by an extensive hydrogen-bonding network. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the [Cu(H2O)6](2+) and pzdo units creates a pseudo-hexa-gonal lattice parallel to the bc plane. The BF4 (-) anions lie in the voids of that lattice, held in place by O-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, and also generate BF4 (-)-pzdo-BF4 (-)-pzdo stacks via short F⋯N contacts [2.866 (3)-3.283 (4) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, [Re(C6H5N)3(CO)3]BF4, the Re(I) ion is six-coordinated by three pyridine N atoms and three carbonyl C atoms. In each case, the carbonyl C atom lies trans to a pyridine N atom. In the crystal, the ions are linked via C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional framework. The F atoms of the BF4 anion are disordered over two positions and gave a final refined occupancy ratio of 0.705 (11):0.295 (11).
