ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [NiCl₂(C₅H₅N)(C₂₄H₁₆N₆)], the Ni^II ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by three N atoms of the tridentate 2,3,5,6-tetra-2-pyridyl-pyrazine ligand, one N atom of the pyridine ligand and two Cl^- anions, with the latter being mutually trans. The complex is disposed about a twofold rotation axis along the a axis. The complex molecules are connected in the crystal via C-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯N and π-π [closest inter-centroid separation = 3.7446 (14) Å between pyridyl rings].

Synthesis, crystal structure and properties of bis(isoselenocyanato-κN)tetrakis(pyridine-κN)nickel(II)

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, discrete centrosymmetric complexes are observed, in which the Ni cations are octahedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded selenocyanate anions and four pyridine coligands. The reaction of nickel chloride hexahydrate with potassium selenocyanate and pyridine in water leads to the formation of crystals of the title complex, [Ni(NCSe)2(C5H5N)4], which were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Its crystal structure consists of discrete complexes, located on centers of inversion, in which the Ni cations are sixfold coordinated by two terminal N-bonded selenocyanate anions and four pyridine ligands within a slightly distorted octahedral coordination. In the crystal, the complexes are connected by weak C—H⋯Se interactions. PXRD investigations revealed that a pure crystalline phase has formed. In the IR and Raman spectra, the C—N stretching vibrations are observed at 2083 and 2079 cm−1, respectively, in agreement with the presence of only terminally bonded anionic ligands. Upon heating, one well-resolved mass loss is observed, in which two of the four pyridine ligands are removed, leading to a compound with the composition Ni(NCSe)2(C5H5N)2. In this compound, the C—N stretching vibration is shifted to 2108 cm−1 (Raman) and 2115 cm−1 (IR), indicating the presence of μ-1,3-bridging anionic ligands. In its PXRD pattern, very broad reflections are observed, indicating for poor crystallinity and/or very small particle size. This crystalline phase is not isotypic to its Co and Fe analogs.

Project description:The NiII ions both show a distorted N3Cl3 octahedral coordination environment defined by three N atoms of the tridentate 2,4,6-tri-2-pyridyl-1,3,5-triazine ligand, two bridging Cl− ligands and a Cl− anion. In the title compound, [Ni2Cl4(C18H12N6)2], the NiII ions are hexa-coordinated in a distorted octahedral coordination environment defined by three N atoms of the tridentate 2,4,6-tri-2-pyridyl-1,3,5-triazine ligand and three Cl− anions in a meridional geometry. The two NiII ions are bridged by two Cl anionic ligands, thereby forming a dinuclear complex. A crystallographic centre of inversion is located at the centroid of the Ni2Cl2 ring.

Project description:In the title compound, [ZnI(2)(C(24)H(16)N(6))], the Zn(II) ion is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry by an N,N,N-tridentate 2,3,5,6-tetra-2-pyridinylpyrazine ligand and two iodide ions. The I(-) ions both occupy equatorial sites. Within the ligand, the dihedral angles between the central pyrazine ring and the two chelating pyridine (py) rings are 14.74 (17) and 26.72 (18)°. The equivalent angles for the non-coordinating py rings are 28.63 (16) and 42.19 (17)°. There is no aromatic π-π stacking in the crystal.

Two thio-cyanate anions act as counter-ions and two water mol-ecules act as solvation agents. O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystral structure.

Crystal structure of 2,3,5,6-tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine hydrogen peroxide 4.75-solvate.

Project description:The structure of the title co-crystal, C24H16N6·4.75H2O2, consists of a 2,3,5,6-tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine coformer and hydrogen peroxide solvent mol-ecules in an overall ratio of 1:4.75. Three of the six H2O2 mol-ecules modelled in the structure were found to be cross-orientationally disordered over two positions with occupancy ratios 0.846 (9):0.154 (9), 0.75 (2):0.25 (2), and 0.891 (9):0.109 (9). In the crystal, all of the peroxide mol-ecules are linked into hydrogen-bonded chains that propagate parallel to the a axis. These chains are further linked by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds to the pyridine groups of the main mol-ecule.

Project description:In the title mononuclear complex, [Ag(C(9)H(7)N(3)S)(2)]BF(4), the Ag(I) ion adopts a virtually linear coordination geometry [N-Ag-N = 178.06 (11)°] with the two ligands bound to the metal atom via the pyridine N atoms. The metal-coordinated pyridine rings are almost coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 1.5 (2)°, while the two pendent pyrazine rings are arranged on the same side of the N-Ag-N line. Along the a axis, the mononuclear coordination units are stacked with π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.569 (4) Å], leading to infinite chains. The chains are inter-connected through inter-molecular N(pyrazine)⋯π(pyrazine) inter-actions forming layers parallel to the ab plane [N⋯centroid = 3.268 (5) Å]. These layers are further stacked along the c-axis direction, furnishing a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework with the tetra-fluoridoborate anions embedded within the inter-stices.

Project description:The title compound [Ni(2)(C(6)H(6)O(6)P(2))(2)(C(24)H(16)N(6))(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O or [Ni(2)(tpyprz)(1,3-HO(3)PC(6)H(4)PO(3)H)(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O [tpyprz = tetra-kis-(2-pyrid-yl)pyrazine, C(24)H(16)N(6)] is a binuclear complex with a crystallographic inversion center located at the center of the pyrazine ring. The equivalent nickel(II) sites exhibit a distorted {NiO(3)N(3)} octa-hedral coordination, with the three nitro-gen donors of each terminus of the tpyprz ligand in a meridional orientation. An aqua ligand occupies the position trans to the pyrazine nitro-gen donor, while the second aqua ligand is trans to the oxygen donor of the dihydrogen-1,3-phenyl-diphospho-nate ligand. The Ni-O and Ni-N bond lengths fall in the range 2.011 (3) to 2.089 (3) Å. The protonation sites on the organo-phospho-nate ligand are evident in the significantly longer P-O bonds compared to the unprotonated sites. In the crystal structure, the complex mol-ecules and the solvent water mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded framework through O-H⋯O inter-actions between the aqua ligands, the protonated organo-phospho-nate oxygen atoms and the water mol-ecules of crystallization. Intra-molecular π-stacking between the phenyl group of the phospho-nate ligand and a pyridyl group of the tpyprz ligand, at a distance of 3.244 (5) Å between ring centroids, is also observed.

The metal atoms are linked by the dianions into zigzag chains running parallel to [11]. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the mononuclear title complex, [Ag(NO(3))(C(10)H(6)N(4))(2)], two κ(2)N:N'-chelating 5-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine-2-carbonitrile ligands surround the Ag(I) atom, forming an N(4)O square-pyramidal coordination geometry with one nitrate anion bonding at the apical site. The two heterocyclic rings of the 5-(2-pyridin-2--yl)pyrazine-2-carbonitrile ligand are almost coplanar [dihedral angle = 5.63 (8)°], and the two chelating ligands are in an anti relationship. The mononuclear units are inter-connected along [010] through C-H⋯O(nitrate) and C-H⋯N(cyano) inter-actions, forming an infinite chain. The mononuclear units are stacked along the a axis and inter-connected via inter-molecular π-π stacking inter-actions between adjacent pyridine and pyrazine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.984 (2) and 3.595 (3) Å], thus forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.
