Diiodido(2,3,5,6-tetrapyridin-2-yl-pyrazine-?N,N,N)zinc(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [ZnI(2)(C(24)H(16)N(6))], the Zn(II) ion is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry by an N,N,N-tridentate 2,3,5,6-tetra-2-pyridinylpyrazine ligand and two iodide ions. The I(-) ions both occupy equatorial sites. Within the ligand, the dihedral angles between the central pyrazine ring and the two chelating pyridine (py) rings are 14.74?(17) and 26.72?(18)°. The equivalent angles for the non-coordinating py rings are 28.63?(16) and 42.19?(17)°. There is no aromatic ?-? stacking in the crystal.

Project description:The title compound, C12H20N2S4, synthesized by the reaction of 2,3,5,6-tetra-kis-(bromo-meth-yl)pyrazine with sodium methane-thiol-ate, crystallizes with a half -mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The whole mol-ecule is generated by inversion symmetry; the inversion centre being located in the centre of the pyrazine ring. The mol-ecule has an S-shaped conformation with two (methyl-sulfan-yl)methyl substituent arms directed above the plane of the pyrazine ring and two below. The C(H3)-S-C(H2)-C(aromatic) torsion angles are 70.47 (18) and -67.65 (17)°, respectively. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via weak C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [001] and enclosing R 2 (2)(12) ring motifs. The chains are linked by further weak C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming sheets lying parallel to (101).

Project description:The title compound, C8H8Br4N2, crystallizes in the enanti-omorphic-defining space group P41212 and has a refined Flack x parameter of 0.04?(4). In the asymmetric unit, there are two half-mol-ecules; the whole mol-ecules (A and B) are generated by twofold rotation symmetry. In mol-ecule A, the twofold axis is normal to the pyrazine ring passing through the centre of the ring, while in mol-ecule B, the twofold rotation axis lies in the plane of the pyrazine ring bis-ecting the C-C aromatic bonds. The two mol-ecules are pseudo-mirror images of one another, and the best fit of the two mol-ecules was obtained for inverted mol-ecule B on mol-ecule A, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.1048?Å and a maximum deviation of any two equivalent atoms of 0.2246?Å. In the crystal, the A mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H?Br hydrogen bonds and Br?Br inter-actions [3.524?(3)?Å], forming a three-dimensional framework. The B mol-ecules are also linked by weak C-H?Br hydrogen bonds and Br?Br inter-actions [3.548?(3)?Å], forming a three-dimensional network that inter-penetrates the network of A mol-ecules.

Three of the six H2O2 mol-ecules modelled in the structure were found to be cross-orientationally disordered over two positions with occupancy ratios 0.846?(9):0.154?(9), 0.75?(2):0.25?(2), and 0.891?(9):0.109?(9). In the crystal, all of the peroxide mol-ecules are linked into hydrogen-bonded chains that propagate parallel to the a axis. These chains are further linked by O-H?N hydrogen bonds to the pyridine groups of the main mol-ecule.

Project description:In the title compound [Ru(2)(C(15)H(11)N(3))(2)(C(24)H(16)N(6))](PF(6))(4)·4CH(3)CN, two of the counter-ions and one of the solvent mol-ecules are disordered with occupancies for the major components between 0.57 (2) and 0.64 (1). The structure of the dinuclear tetracation exhibits significant distortion from planarity in the bridging 2,3,5,6-tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine (tppz) ligand, which has a saddle-like geometry with an average dihedral angle of 42.96 (18)° between adjacent pyridine rings. The metal-ligand coordination environment is nearly equivalent for the two Ru(II) atoms, which have a distorted octa-hedral geometry due to the restricted bite angle [157.57 (13)-159.28 (12)°] of their two mer-arranged tridendate ligands [2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy) and tppz] orthogonal to each other. At the peripheral tpy ligands, the average Ru-N bond distance is 2.072 (4) Å for the outer N atoms trans to each other (N(outer)) and 1.984 (1) Å for the central N atoms (N(central)). At the bridging tppz ligand, the average metal-ligand distances are significantly shorter [2.058 (4) Å for Ru-N(outer) and 1.965 (1) Å for Ru-N(central)] as a result of both the geometric constraints and the stronger π-acceptor ability of the pyrazine-centered bridge. The dihedral angle between the two tpy planes is 27.11 (6)°. The intra-molecular linear distance between the two Ru atoms is 6.6102 (7) Å.
