ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Cu(C(8)H(6)O(9))(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·0.69H(2)O}(n), the Cu(II) atom has a distorted octa-hedral geometry, coordinated by four O atoms from two 3,4-dicarboxy-tetra-hydro-furan-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two N atoms from one 1,10-phenanthroline ligand. One of the carboxylate groups bridges the Cu(II) atoms, forming a zigzag chain running along the b axis. The chains are linked by a ?-? inter-action between aromatic rings with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.567?(1)?Å, and by hydrogen bonds between the carboxyl-ate group and the disordered water mol-ecule, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)Tb(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(4)]NO(3)·4H(2)O, consists of one-half of the C(2)-symmetric trinuclear coordination cation, one-half of the C(2)-symmetric nitrate anion and two water mol-ecules. In the coordination cation, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from a bridging-chelating carboxyl-ate group of the pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anion, completing a distorted N(4)O(2) octa-hedral coordination environment. The Tb(III) atom, located on a twofold rotation axis, is nine-coordinated by three tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions forming an N(3)O(6) donor set. The intra-molecular Cu?Tb distance of 5.0592?(11)?Å indicates weak inter-actions between the Cu(II) and Tb(III) atoms. The coordination cations, nitrate anions and water mol-ecules are connected via O-H?O hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to the (001) plane. Moreover, there are extensive ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 4.332?(7) and 3.878?(5)?Å] between the phenanthroline ligands and between phenanthroline and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligands.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Fe(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(6)]·4H(2)O}(n), there are two types of coordination for the Fe(II) atoms. One Fe(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment, with two chelating rings from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two O atoms from the water mol-ecules, while the other is in a distorted octa-hedral O(6) environment with two O atoms from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and four O atoms from the water mol-ecules. Both Fe(II) atoms lie on crystallographic centers of symmetry. The complex possesses an infinite chain structure running along the [101] direction. These chains are inter-connected by the uncoordinated water mol-ecules through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Each Ni(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, one O atom from the BTC(4-) anion and three aqua ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Inter-molecuar O-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-ations [centroid-centroid distances = 3.646?(2), 3.781?(2) and 3.642?(2)?Å] consolidate the crystal packing.

In the cationic unit, the Ni(2+) atom is coordinated by four N atoms and two O atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. In the anionic unit, the Ni(2+) atom is in a square-planar coordination by four C atoms from four monodentate terminal cyanide ligands. O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link neighboring cationic and anionic units, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. The inter-stitial tetra-hydro-furan mol-ecule is independently disordered over two sites in a 1:1 ratio.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·C(7)H(5)NO(4)·4H(2)O or [Ni(pydc)(phen)(H(2)O)].pydcH(2)·4H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with the proton-transfer compound (phenH)(2)(pydc) (phen is 1,10-phenanothroline and pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid) in aqueous solution. Both the cationic and anionic portions of the starting proton-transfer compound are involved in the complexation. The Ni(II) atom has a distorted octa-hedral geometry and is hexa-coordinated by three O atoms and three N atoms from one phen fragment (as a bidentate ligand), one (pydc)(2-) unit (as a tridentate ligand) and one water mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, extensive O-H?O, O-H?N and C-H?O hydrogen bonds with D?A distances ranging from 2.573?(2) to 3.385?(2)?Å, ?-? inter-actions between the phen ring systems [with centroid-centroid distances of 3.4694?(12), 3.4781?(11) and 3.8310?(11)?Å] and inter-molecular C-O?? inter-actions [C?? distances of 3.4812?(17), 3.5784?(16) and 3.5926?(16)?Å] connect the various components together.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(18)H(20)O(3), is a furan-oid lignan extracted from the leaves of Larrea tridentata. The relative absolute configuration for the four chiral centers was established, showing that this compound is 4-epi-larreatricin, which has been previously reported in the literature. The mol-ecule displays noncrystallographic C(2) symmetry, with the methyl and phenol substituents alternating above and below the mean plane of the furan ring. The conformation of this ring is described by the pseudorotation phase angle P = 171.3° and the maximum out-of-plane pucker ?(m) = 37.7°. These parameters indicate that the furan ring adopts the same conformation as the ribose residues in B-DNA. The packing is dominated by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The phenol hy-droxy groups form chains in the [110] direction and these chains inter-act via O-H?O(furan) contacts.

In each complex, there are four coordinated water mol-ecules and two solvent water mol-ecules, which participate in extensive hydrogen-bond patterns. These inter-actions, as well as ?-? inter-actions between neighbouring 1,10-phenanthroline ligands [shortest atom-to-atom distance = 3.363?(3)?Å], extend the crystal structure into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
